This was posted at Kerry/Edwards forum.

On Wednesday September 29th at 9:20 AM armed federal marshalls and FCC agents served a warrant at the studio of Free Radio Santa Cruz. They have confiscated equipment and shut down the broadcast.

STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Before that KFAR out of Tennesse was shut down

1. For years these stations have been ignored...
but lately three stations in California have been busted. Below is a link to all of the unlicensed stations in Amerika. Clear Channel wants to own ALL of our public airwaves...owning over 1200 stations now isn't enough. Can't have FREE stations playing the Dixie Chicks, and Linda Ronstadt!!

2. This is not ....
... a "public" radio station it is a "pirate" station, i.e. one operating without a license.

If they've been running for years they should have been allowed to continue since they are obviously not interfering with any licensed stations or they would have been shup down before.

5. No... because it's illegal there are only a few... if there were many...
... it would be a problem.

4. I live in Santa Cruz.
I woke up to this news this morning. Hubby told me about it. Haven't seen the news on it yet. Hubby said it was all over the larger SF bay area news media. I should go look up local newspaper online to see what the "reason" was...ummm

Hubby said that the "reason" they gave was that the station didn't have a license to broadcast. I don't know all the details, so I can't comment further.

Weird though, I was just telling him I'd read where another station had been raided and now this....
