White House withheld 1971 "proportional font" memo from Feb. document dump
Newly released documents from George W. Bush’s military personnel files lead new weight to the theory that the White House engineered the recent scandal regarding CBS’s use of the “Killian memos”. Acting under a court order, on Friday, September 24, the Department of Defense released 10 new pages of documents, including an official Texas Air National Guard memo which conclusively refutes the technological questions that were raised about the “Killian memos.”

And it can now be shown that these “new documents” were deliberately withheld by the White House when it released “absolutely everything” on February 13, 2004.

2. Does this "prove" that Bush was promoted?
"The document in question is a memo written to 'First Lieutenant George W. Bush' notifying him of his promotion to First Lieutenant. The memo is dated Febrary 19, 1971, more than a year before the date on the first of the Killian memos. And, like the Killian memos, this document uses a 'proportionately spaced font,' and has all the characteristics of a document produced on a modern day computer using 'Microsoft Word.'"

Using the same argument that the media picked up for the Freepers, we can conclude that the document promoting Bush is forgery. What other proof is there that Bush was properly promoted? Are those documents forgeries as well?

3. will this take any of the heat off Rather now? Will the
White House ever have egg on its fact about this? Is there time
before the election to expose this?

This also means that when CBS asked them the morning before airing
if they objected to anything in the broadcast, they said no objections. If the font on those documents was suspicious, they
should have known and so informed CBS. The more I hear of this, the
more STINKY FISH I smell.....

4. question
It looks like the lower case text isn't proportional. Does that distinguish it from the killian memos? I'd love for the new memo to be helpful, but I don't want to go off half-cocked on this. (Frankly, I'm inclined to think that were best "moving on" from the memo story. Feels more like we're playing defense and right now I think we can and should be on the offensive.

8. its all proportional
look at the space devoted to "i" (in the word "National" for example) and then imagine the letter "m" in there....

5. Verrrrry interesting...
Now will any media pick up the ball and run with it? It certainly seems to exonerate CBS. It at least raises a few more questions that need to be asked. The attack machine that pounced on the Killian memo's is like so many crickets chirping now for some reason.

6. The media should immediately get an exam at an emergency room.
Otherwise, they may have difficulty proving rape.

7. Just e-mail the info to CBS and then let them do what they will with it.
We've got better things to do now guys. The debate result is the driving issue right now and we have to keep hammering it. Keep Bush's total annihilation at the hands of Kerry the central focus of the campaigning for as long as possible.

13. Agree! Send it to Dan Rather...get address from DU Media Blaster....I've
sent three e-mails...don't want it to look like spam. The address is on the CBS Website or here in "Blaster."

Need to send this out if it's new info. The story is "dead" on DU because many feel they defended Rather and were trashed. Need some new blood going out there and working on it to keep it alive. Kerry Campaign wants it over along with folks here. Burned to much on it.
