Kerry's "In Denial" Theme is a Masterful Stroke!!!
All the American people know is that everywhere they look they see shit (and they don't know politics from their shoes). They see an economy that's shit along with an Iraq war in total dung, medical insurance crisis, unemployment, job fears, national debt that could choke a horse and on and on. Kerry has hit it right on the head when he points to those things and says that Bush cannot fix them when he is in denial that they exist. It covers everything--every subject of this campaign. And now as these reports and remarks keep emerging about Iraq it just makes those words utter gems. I've always said that Kerry needed to destroy Bush as a person. He has done more than destroy his character. Better still, he's made people question his sanity. Husband tonight got so excited when he heard the sound bite in Kerry's press conference today that Bush and Cheney "were the last people on the planet who still believed Saddam had WMD's". Kerry is good. Keep on the "in denial" theme, John...it's a winner.

1. And if Bush denies he's in denial...
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 07:39 PM by Atman
...well..he's just in denial. It really IS a masterful stroke. Bush absolutely has no way to refute the charge other than to admit he is wrong. Which he cannot do. It's gonna get interestinger and interestinger!

2. Atman--somebody very, very good and insightful on the Kerry team
sat back and looked and thought about where the weakness of his "I'm the great decisive man" mantra was. They realized that his crap could also look like a demented moron who was dull and stupid and too vain to admit that he screwed up, was lead around by the nose, etc. This drives Bush nuts. I've seen news articles now talking about how Bush began to lose it when Kerry started to make these attacks---the eye blinking, the inattention (and you can bet that was because of the rage in him that only knows how to get even rather than think and strike back effectively in a debate). I have to tell you that I do now fear for Kerry's life. Bush just cannot take this. Kerry needs to give him more of it tomorrow.

3. There's another more subtle benefit.
The subject of denial is huge in Alcoholics Anonymous and related 12 step programs. IMO the best way to recover from alcholism and other addictions is thru these programs.

Anyone who has ever invested much time in these programs can see right through the shrub's phony recovery from his addictions, because he has never dealt with the underlying issues of those addictions.

So everytime the word denial is brought up, 12 steppers everywhere are reminded of another shrub lie and huge character defect.

the "debate" ..that the "reality" is this.. like the lech was denying REALITY!

And even David Kay said "Denial is not just a river in Egypt"..
