Madison County GOP disavows Parker Griffith
Story in the Huntsville News Wire

The governing body of the Madison County Republican Party today took unprecedented steps today against the election of former Democrat Congressman Parker Griffith.
1.Action Encouraging GOP Primary Voters to Support Anybody But Parker Griffith.
The Madison County Republican Executive Committee passed a resolution urging Republican Primary voters to support either Mo Brooks or Les Phillip, but not Parker Griffith.

The resolution states:
“Whereas, since the defection of Alabama 5th Congressional District Parker Griffith from the Democratic Party he stated that, “he has not changed a bit.”
“Whereas, Parker Griffith written Positions in the Huntsville Times states that:
He pledges to support the death of Bush Tax Cuts.
He pledges to vote to impose a deadline data for leaving Iraq.
He pledges to vote for “Card Check” (removal or rights of a secret ballot in unionization elections)

“Whereas, Parker Griffith (has given) past support for Liberal Democratic Agenda Candidates like:
His Vote to elect Nancy Pelosi House speaker when any North Alabamian knew her damaging ideology before his Election to the House
His Contribution of $ 1500.00 to re-elect Howard Dean, President
His Contribution of $ 1000.00 to re-elect Sen. Harry Reid
His Contribution of $ 1000.00 to unseat Sen. Jeff Sessions
His Contribution of $ 1800.00 to unseat Rep Robert Aderholt
“Whereas, while in the Alabama Senate he voted to override Governor Riley’s veto so that the Legislature could get a 62% pay raise
“Whereas, since the Federal and State Republican Party Leaders see fit to support Parker Griffith’s switch and to be placed on the Republican Primary Ballot, some never
Having stepped foot in the 5th Congressional District
“Whereas, the Local Republican Party leadership committee, with troops on the ground in the 5th Congressional District to know the true value of Republicans in this district.
“Therefore be it resolved that, … although It is the authority of the Alabama State Republican Party to seat Parker Griffith onto our Madison County Ballot, we, the Madison County Republican Executive Committee do not support this action and Encourage all Republicans and Independents to support the other 2 candidates in this race.”

My hope in all of this is that a Democratic challenger may benefit from the puke infighting. In any case, it's nice to see that the Republican party in Griffith's own district are not rolling out the red carpet for this turncoat. Add this to the mass exodus of his staff after he made the switch, and Parker Griffith looks more and more like a lonely weasel adrift with no party and no friends.
