"Anchorage, Alaska - It was a busy, but exciting weekend for Alaskan democrats. This weekend was the 2006 Alaska Democratic Party’s 2006 Statewide Convention and hundreds showed up to give their support.

Sunday the state party officers were elected and some re-elected as the convention wrapped up. People also discussed certain parts of government that they feel need to be changed.

“We see the issues as being open government, economic development health care and education and open government is very important because over the last four years of Frank Murkowski, government has been conducted in secret and democrats want to open government up,” said Jake Metcalfe (right), democratic party chairman."
