DUers, please help me and join me in a good cause.
According to the Dept. of Juvenile Corrections, they do not use corporal punishment as a means of punishment for a rules violation!

According to the Dept. of Corrections, they do not use corporal punishment as a means of punishment for a rules violation!

Yet, schools can use this form of discipline because there is no law prohibting it. And when no law prohibits something, it is sanctioned.

It doesn't matter to me if school board ban this practice, until it is in law, a school board can change its mind.

DUers in Arizona, please help me end this barbaric practice. As a teacher, I am a mandated reporter for child abuse. I could lose my certification and my license if I do not report child abuse, but corporal punishment used in school is protected.

Inmates don't get beaten for violating rules, neither should children in school

Please go to these websites for more information:

Our license plates say "It shouldn't hurt to be a child." It shouldn't. . .not at home, not at school.

I know it still happens in Arizona. My school uses it.

1. Public or private school
Are there any public schools that still use corporal punishment? My district, Paradise Valley, does not. I thought AZ banned this practice in all districts but I don't know about charter or private schools.

2. ARS 15-843 dictates school punishments. It does not differentiate between
public, private, charter or religious.

Either way, it should be banned in all schools with state certified teachers.

3. I agree.
When you say "my school uses it" which school are you talking about? My district, Paradise Valley Unified, does not allow it.
