Progressives Endorse Randy Camacho for AZ Dem Party Chair
Randy Camacho Endorsed for Arizona Democratic Party State Chair

Endorsement Made Unanimously In a Joint Meeting

PHOENIX, AZ (January 12, 2007) - On Wednesday January 10th at a joint meeting of Arizona's top progressive organizations, a unanimous vote was tallied for the endorsement and active support of Randy Camacho as he seeks the Arizona Democratic Party State Chair position.

Randy Camacho has put forth a vision focused on competing in every district by including and energizing the grassroots. The group members, the grassroots themselves, were in full agreement with the idea and the energy of their support was evident as they made plans for campaigning.

A family man and high school history teacher from Goodyear, Randy Camacho has deep roots in Arizona and the Latino community. Randy brings a wide set of skills necessary to the Office, including those of a record breaking fund raiser, a strong networker, a consensus builder, a store house of history, and a populist with a decidedly progressive outlook. Camacho holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

Randy Camacho proposes a strong "30 Legislative District,15 County, 8 Congressional District" structure akin to Howard Dean's fifty state strategy. Randy has goals of engaging more activists, broadening the party's funding base, registering more Democratic voters, recruiting and training qualified candidates for every office, and providing the support to achieve greater success over the short and long term.

The Progressive Democrats of Arizona and the Democracy For America groups from across Arizona, representing the full spectrum of progressive and liberal Democrats, were present at the meeting where the vote was taken.

Camacho, who ran twice for U.S. Congress in Congressional District 2, is making his first bid for the state party's top spot.

The election takes place on January 20th in Phoenix. Find out more at http://www.randycamacho.com.

1. Go Randy!
Many Arizona candidates and new party activists who contributed many hours and dollars were dismayed that in the Party there are favored candidates and those it is OK to not only not direct resources to, but to publicly snub. In the progressive movement, we stand for fair, open and transparent processes to support for every qualified Democrat willing to make the commitment to run for public office with trained campaign staff, clear procedures, enthusiastic precinct and strong, LD, county, and CD organizations.

I look forward to working with Randy to strengthen our party. What better time for new leadership than now, with a successful campaign behind us. With Randy's leadership and the support of the party, we can turn Arizona BRIGHT BLUE.
