I'm back! We had a great turn out! Nurses, firefighters, teachers, correctional officers, etc. etc. were on hand to BOO! WARTsenegger when he arrived at the car wash.

21. I think he might be starting to understand
that his 'performances' can't be set up like movie scenes. In real life, one take is all you get. HA!

4. Thanks!
We far outnumbered the supporters (HAHAHA!!!), and given the fact that they (the Repoops) received advanced notice, and we (the awesome Democrats) were SCRAMBLING at 7:30 this morning to call supporters , we were SO PROUD of ourselves. Even the workers at the car wash who were interviewed for our local TV news shows commented on how surprised they were that the Gropinator had so much opposition. YES!!!!!!

8. Good job!
Great protest signs, too. Arnold is so fond of using the phrase "the people".....guess he is seeing who the people really are.

I'll tell you something funny. In this morning's paper, the article on the frontpage was not all gushy to Girlie Boy this time. They mentioned how unusual it was to have a crowd of protestors show up at one of his events. They gave Ahhnuld a photo, and a real good one of US, too. He has been in Bakersfield 6 times in 2 years, and he won the re-call with around 80% of the BAK vote (gag!) So, there was an expression of surprise here. To me, the Bakersfield Repoop mentality seems to be pondering the weirdness of it all(I'm laughing) So, what makes us Dems feel even better is that our cherry red town saw some Blue Thunderbolts flashing and went ,"Oooo."

Also, Girlie Boy was mobbed by hundereds when he first appeared in Bako 2 years ago. They had to put him in the mall. After 2 years and 6 visits, the opposition outnumbered HIM, and he was at a dinky car wash. Ha!

10. It's a good feeling, isn't it?
I'm in Repub territory too with the Marine base nearby.

Lots of work to do before Arnold's waste of money special election. Maybe the only ones voting will be those of us opposed to it, lol :-).

11. This was a wondrous turn of events
re: Girlie Boy's popularity in a too RED city, so this Blue Dem Chick is feeling very hopeful. Not that we will relax 'til Nov. 8, but it shows much promise if we keep the heat on and fight....even if you live in Repoop territory. btw, what area do you live in, if you don't mind my asking?

30. Oceanside - north of San Diego
and about 5 miles from Camp Pendleton's back door gate. I worked (volunteered) on our local Congressional candidate's campaign last fall. The infamous Darrell Issa's seat! I am going to volunteer for Francine Busby's campaign. She is running again against "Duke" Cunningham. It's the next district over from mine, but I am unemployed and have lots of time to help.

13. The Bakersfield Californian wrote THAT???
Oh my god!

Well ya know a homersex'l used to run that paper. That's why they did that. All them gay germs are still there. :sarcasm:

They used to have a message board that I would like to stir things up in. This woman who was a big ol' homophobe refered to the paper as "That LIBERAL Californian".

My guess is homegirl was taking time off her KKK meeting to vent.

Thank you AGAIN!!!

I love it when my hometown kicks republican ass.

15. Hi! Hey, a fellow Bako
:hi:

Maybe I'll see you at the next protest? Maybe not in Bako since Girlie Boy might have seen the (BlUE) light---where are your adoring mobs now, wimp?!

RonnyKMarshal, go to the Kern Dems page and you'll see a snip from the BAK Californian artcle.

Here is a photo of me and my husband, Doug. I'm Laurie. Pleased to meet you! This is at the Getty. No pictures of me protesting 'cause I'm the one behind the camera at those events, so here's a vacation shot.

I'm going get my mom to save today's Californian for me.

I'm sure Arnie will slither back into town this summer.

I've got alot of vacation time and I'd love to visit the parental units and give Arnie the finger at the same time.

Keep up the good work.

A friend of my mom's works at that car wash.

Her friend is a repub and they haven't heard from her in a while. Out of the blue she gets an e-mail "How are you? The GOVERNOR of our glorious state it going to be at our office ...... blah blah blah."

She KNOWS my parents are Democrats and mom wouldn't walk to two feet "to see that son of a bitch".

Great job you guys.

Let Arnie know that even in Bakersfield he's not as popular as he thinks!

That doesn't mean I'm not happy I left Bakersfield 10 years ago, but still . . . GOOD JOB :).

Hell, it's been so long since I was in Bakersfield I don't even know where the hell that carwash is :). The only big carwash I know of is the old Niagra carwash on 178 :)

33. Where I Used To Ride My Horse
when I was a kid. Me and my best friend used to get up at 6 am so we could ride and be back home by noon in the summertime to avoid the worst of the heat.

It's all turned into suburbs and chain stores.

25. Does this car look dirty?
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 12:15 PM by 99Pancakes
You wouldn't believe how many clean SUVs, pick-ups and the like drove through for a FREE car wash (that's the only way they could get folks out, I guess, was to GIVE AWAY a car wash). Also, note the mere handful of desperate supporters to the left of the photo. Ha! If you look closely, you'll see Girlie Boy himself to the far right of the photo: he is leaning down to "talk" (talk at) one of his FEW supporters. He's the wimp with the Girlie Boy puffy hair. The itsy, bitsy "stage" set up for him reads "Year of Reform" Gag!

26. What was funny about this ..
my parent's friend was all "look for me on the news"! HA!!

The protesters got the coverage.

I think mom's friend lives in a fantasy world and expected Arnie to show up with a shower of roses thrown at his feet.

Buuuuuwwwaaahhhhhaaaaa!!!!

27. On the TV NEWS Shows
My husband and I were happily surprised that they did "balanced" coverage: some to Arnie and his "true lies" , some to us protesters , some to the car wash workers and even a bit for the autograph seekers who admitted they could care less for the politics---they just wanted an autograph. That was GOOD for Bakersfield---genuine progress. AND THEN, the newspaper had AS MUCH about us as they did "them", too. A double whammy! I got to the car wash at noon (an hour early) and TV trucks and radio station reporters were already there, getting stories from the handful of protesters that had gathered early. They stayed for 2 hours, as our own Democratic "mob" trickled in, and throughout the demonstration they had cameras on us ALL the time. When we watched the TV News that night, they did not slant it to make it look like Girlie Boy was mobbed with supporters. They have done that in the past, as you know. So, it's all good.

28. Good for the local TV.
I remember back when I was a kid KERO's anchorman was Burleigh Smith. Some times ol' Burleigh would get the giggles and have a hard time. I kinda think it was that quart of vodka I saw him guy at Skaggs on Ming Ave. Boy I am I dating myself.
