5. Consider running?
I know school board is a big job, but this is where we can start to make a difference.

Fortunately my school board is pretty liberal; there's one woman who fought against the push to put an opt out on high school emergency cards, so parents would know they could opt out of having their child's contact information sent to military recruiters, but she's a fairly lone voice on the board.

8. My union says no on 78; yes on 79
I am sick of all of this crap.

I'm leaning heavily to voting NO on all of them.

Screw you GOVERNATOR!!! YOUR FAUX ELECTION SUCKS AND STINKS LIKE *!

Hang in there. This is the gist of the voting...

Nix the first six, do the last two.

Here is a copy of them from the Jackie Goldberg thread,

Prop. 73 NO Prop. 75 NO Prop. 77 NO
Prop. 74 NO Prop. 76 NO Prop. 78 NO

That is six big NO's on the November 8th ballot. There are actually two good measures and they are, of course, at the very end. They are Prop. 79 YES; and Prop. 80 YES.

10. that drug thing is B.S.
I should know! I'm under it right now as a retiree of the State! It totally sucks and it will only make it worse. The drugs they push are old and have a short shelf life. They don't tell you this in the voter's pamphlet do they?

Check out Caremark on the NYSE! See who is hooked up with these greedy SOB's! ONE FUCKING GUESS!!!! Hint in case you need one: * and Co.!

:grr:

NO ON ALL OF THIS CRAP! IT IS B.S. AND they are attempting to pull another one off on "us" ... "us" = WE THE PEOPLE!

"Nix the first six, do the last two."

Another version I heard, from the Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club: 79 is fine, 78 we hate.

12. That is not such a good deal as you might think.
80 is a bad deal. There is no pracdtical reason to reregulate the power industry since most (if not all of the Enron imposed)loop holes have been closed now. If we reimposed the all power must come from the local monopoly rule, per 80, then we would all lose the ability to choose our own power providers. I personally like buying only green power but if 80 passed then I would be forced to buy only from the local monopoly.

13. When I do phone banking...
...that is what I say. We contact Dems to energize our base. It's exciting to hear then say, "Wait, let me get a pencil..." then they write it down (NO73 NO74 NO75 NO76 NO77 NO78) so they can vote their party's platform. Go Democrats!
Many express anger at the SchWARTzy Boy and are ready to kick his a-- out. Ha!

17. Ok
I'm fed up enough to say no to all of them also.
Just saw the Gropinator's shiny new mea culpa ad saying
he'll try harder if we all vote for his ballot measures.

Oh please.

20. It's a one day coverup!
The mea culpa he's running is just a one day buy. The Governor's press trolls are trying to draw press attention away from the PPIC polling numbers that show he's LOST a 25 advantage on some of the initiatives, and that the Labor/Dem/Ed coalition's position is getting closer to a sweep every day.

They're getting desperate. So desperate, that they put him back on TV, even though he's such a liability that they pulled all the ads featuring him last week.

21. Yes on 79!
Vote yes on 79, and stick it to the drug companies. 79 would get perscription drugs at significant discounts to more needy people in California - the drug companies are so scared of it that they've raised more than $80 to oppose it, and are outspending the Prop 79 campaign by more than 60-1.

22. The Rxs outspent all of us
I read today that the Pharmy Giants have broken records in their spending to tank Prop 79. In Bakersfield, I have seen more ads trying to cram Prop 78 down our throats that it made me sick and in need of some really affordable meds.

14. North County Times
Unfortunately, I don't seem to be allowed a new thread, but:

It seems the North County Times has declared war on Teachers, Nurses, Firefighters, and Police. They've come out for props 74, 75, & 76, and print daily public editorials, most in support of these measures. I've recently noticed they've begun allowing comments on the articles at their website. I'm not aware of anyother newspaper that allows such commenting, but it seems anything goes over there. Whatever anti-union propaganda someone feels like posting gets posted. As the husband of a teacher, I was hoping to get other progressives on my side over there placing comments on articles such as this one from today:

http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2005/10/28/opinion/commentary/20_11_0510_27_05.txt

Thank you.

15. The NC Times is becoming more RW all of the time!
They were also even making the SD Tribune look "liberal" by comparison with their coverage of the September 24th protests, where they (along with the Fox station web site) basically printed provable lies that alleged there was a huge counter protest in downtown San Diego that simply didn't exist. We should be peppering their messageboards and letters to the editor with more info to counteract their bias.

18. NCTimes
Hey Cali-

Yeah, my family was at the protest last month as well, and I also read the article you're referring to from the NCTimes. I even wrote a LTTE about it, which they severly edited. Apparently, the article was never actually in print, and only found online. I wasn't aware of this when I sent in my letter, but they changed my words to be complaining about their "online article" rather than about their paper itself -- without my permission of course.

As far as their new "commenting" feature on their website goes: at least they don't seem to edit your words. Everything I've posted gets there as is, no edits. I'm not sure yet how this new feature will play out for them, as the comments I've seen posted by others can get pretty nasty, and they don't seem to be enforcing their own comments policy. But whatever. I'm sure it is a pretty daunting task to monitor every comment that gets posted. Perhaps it is an admirable effort on the part of their paper to allow such a feature. At least it gives us a chance to respond to their right wing B.S.

19. Their ethics match the LA Times
The LA Times, on their editorial pages, supported Ahhnuld's platform right down the line. I was appalled! I wrote 3 letters; the last one basically said. "Good-bye". I sure hope they have a lot of Orange County subscribers, because the city of Los Angeles (overall) is quite liberal.

But, the SF Chronicle, which is typically the REAL liberal paper, endorsed Prop 74. (gasp!) I wrote Mark Morford, their Leftie columnist, and told him to walk over to the Editorial Dept. and see who hijacked their office. Ha!

Final shocker: MY hometown Bakersfield Californian newspaper came out opposed to Prop 74 (NO on 74 they said, which is the Dem agenda). Can ya' believe it? Bakersfield is predominantly Repug, but their editorials sound "liberal".

Seems things are so topsy-tursy with newspapers, as the "big ones" get gobbled up by RW Parent Co.s
