What Shriver won't talk about with Oprah

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's latest dilemma in the uphill battle to pass his initiatives in the Nov. 8 special election carries a catchy musical theme: "How do you solve a problem like Maria?"

Maria -- as in the California first lady, as in Democratic royalty, Kennedy clan member, and uber-campaigner for her famous husband.

Shriver is scheduled to appear today as a guest on "Oprah," but it's what she won't say that may speak volumes.

1. another snip more
"Gloria Nieto, a former Democratic National Committee member and head of the Lyon-Martin Women's Clinic in San Francisco's Castro neighborhood, agreed. She said she grew up revering the Kennedy family but now finds herself 'personally disappointed' with Shriver's silence on her husband's veto -- and other current ballot issues.

When it comes to political spouses, Laura Bush has managed to let it be known that she disagrees with her husband,'' Nieto said. 'What is wrong with (Shriver)? It's about having core values.'"

and

"'Maria Shriver has repeatedly defended this governor ... and defended his policies,' Idelson said. 'And a lot of people are disgusted with her partisanship on behalf of a governor who has attacked working people.'"

As far as I'm concerned, Maria has lost whatever Democratic political capital she once had, by her tacit endorsement of Arnold. I stopped watching Oprah after she gushed over Arnold during his original campaign days.

2. She is the crypt-keeper
She is the sorriest excuse for a human-being I've ever seen. She must be retarded, it's the only rational excuse she could possibly have.

3. Difficult situation!
I don't envy her. But neither do I blame her.
