ANGELES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. (AP) - A flying arrow struck a volunteer who was sitting Thursday afternoon on the viewing porch of a fire lookout cabin in the Charlton Flats area, officials said.
The broad-tip arrow pierced the left shoulder of the volunteer about 2:30 p.m. at the 5,908-foot elevation Vetter Mountain lookout, said Stanton Florea, a spokesman for the national forest.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department helicopter transported two paramedics and a SWAT team member to the lookout, said Deputy Josie Woolum.
The victim, whose identity was not released, was flown to Huntington Memorial Hospital and was being treated for his non-life threatening injury, Florea said.
