OC park 2 B renamed after st. ronnie
At next Tuesday's Board of Supervisors meeting, District 2 Supervisor Jim Silva is recommending that Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley B renamed ronald regan Park. :puke: Considering raygun's mis-treatment of open spaces, I can think of nothing, Xcept that airport in DC, less deserving of having his name slapped on it. (Wonder if Silva is part of that cult looking 2 name anything that moves after st ronnie)

This is on the agenda for next Tuesday, September 21 @ the regular 9:30 AM meeting. U can yell @ Silva:

RE: Renaming of MILE SQUARE PARK

Today I received a phone call from B****.... (who) said Supervisor Silva was going to put on tomorrow’s Board of Supervisors’ agenda the renaming of Mile Square Park to Ronald Reagan Park, and the City of Fountain Valley was supporting this....

I reiterated...we did have a conversation with Supervisor Silva about renaming the park. We advised him the City Council has a policy of naming our parks for a geographic location (street, etc., something identifiable) or the name of a school, and it did not appear as though the City would be renaming our portion of the park.

Supervisor Silva’s representative also indicated Supervisor Silva is getting a lot of community support. We have two members on a Citizen Advisory Committee in the Second District... (and) they are vehemently opposed to renaming Mile Square Park....

This memo is just a heads up that we may be sucked into the middle of this discussion. If my recollection is not correct that the City’s position was to leave our portion of the park as Mile Square and let the County take whatever action they wished, please let me know.
