AAR/San Francisco rumors looking very strong
According to this

http://www.radio-info.com/mods/board?Post=262363&Board=bayarea

There's a tease ad in the San Francisco Chronicle:

"The sound of Bay Area radio is about to change forever. Be
there. 960 AM this Tuesday September 28."

960 is KABL-AM, which is owned by Clear Channel.

The ad in THURSDAY's SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE was simple and short, reading "The sound of BAY AREA radio is about to change forever. Be here. 960 AM this TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 28." What could CLEAR CHANNEL's Adult Standards KABL-A/SAN FRANCISCO be up to? Will it be another convert to liberal talk using AIR AMERICA RADIO?

Take it all with at least a grain of salt, though. CC pulled a stunt in Milwaukee last weekend hinting strongly at AAR, then duped everyone by changing to 80's mullet rock.

Then again, why else would they blow up an AM station? Not many formats out there, and Air America is an obvious choice in perhaps one of the most liberal parts of the country. I'm sure they want to take on KGO and that huge market share of theirs.

In the meantime, you can enjoy what your local (poorly rated) country station is doing:

BONNEVILLE Country KZBR (95-7 THE BEAR)/SAN FRANCISCO morning stars RICK & ROBIN are sticking it to liberal listeners by teaming up with a local middle school for a "FLIP-FLOP-A-THON." While they swear this one has nothing to do with politics, they are collecting flip flop sandals for the troops overseas to protect their feet from the hot dessert sand. Listeners are donating new flip-flops through local collection drops.

Gotta love radio, huh?

5. AAR is confirmed for SF!
KQKE 960 AM on Tuesday 9/28!

Comedian Al Franken is bringing his ambitious attempt to create a liberal talk radio network to the Bay Area's airwaves starting Tuesday.

Air America, which got off to a rocky beginning after its start in April, will take over the slot now occupied by KABL on 960 AM. The new station will be called KQKE, "the Quake." KABL, which plays American standards from the 1940s and 1950s, will move to 92.1 FM, broadcasting out of Walnut Creek.

Clear Channel Communications, which owns KABL, hopes to turn the Sinatra- oriented station into a broader network, starting with 92.1 and a station in Monterey, according to KABL General Manager Joe Cunningham.
