Schwarzenegger Signs Bill To Post Sex Offender Info Online

Governor Calls Signing A 'Good First Step'

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- By early next year, Californians will find home addresses of the state's 55,000 most serious convicted sex offenders on the Internet after Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation Friday moving information available at police stations to millions of homes, schools and libraries.

The Republican governor also made it clear he wants an even tougher bill next year.


Calling the legislation signed Friday a "good first step," Schwarzenegger called for state lawmakers "to provide a more comprehensive measure that will ensure more of the Megan's Law database is available to the public with information on their neighbors and neighborhood."


Legislative Republicans pressed unsuccessfully this year to identify more registered offenders on a state-run Web site, including those convicted of child pornography, lewd conduct and spousal rape.

On edit: my error. The Gropenator has never been convicted in a court of law. His antics don't count!
