This is 'bout San Diego, where those following the adventures know finances are a little
off....

So my hubby and I were talking about it... and we both went... WTF do our taxes pay for?

We called 9.11 on the 14 of the last month for an emergency call... well we got charged for the emergency call by the EMS system.

Our police has been cut to the bone... and then some

Our library system is in trouble

Our parks system has been cut to the bone

Much of our trash collection has been privatized.

So exactly what are my taxes paying for? Lord knows they are not even filling the holes in the street...

For the record I have no problem paying taxes, but hod damn it... I want some return for that investment!

1. I think I got a flat AGAIN on the same hole that "resunk" that I lost a wheel on a year ago!
On Mira Mesa Boulevard, there are some spots with REALLY deep holes that they aren't adequately repairing. Fortunately this time I only had a hole in my tire and not both the tire blowing out and losing a wheel to boot on it. But I really do believe it might have been the exact same hole, since the flat was on the same wheel. Fortunately I'd earlier gotten a new tire from Costco and they also replaced my wheel then. This time around they patched my new hole without charge since "they didn't know which tire was on what wheel", and therefore they'll patch what was damaged regardless. Costco still is the best in my book to get something from which might have issues to get repairs or replace later. I've always had good luck with them doing right by the customer.

I wish I'd earlier taken the city to court on paying my insurance deductible. Hopefully if they had to pay more money for that crap they'd be more diligent about fixing these holes!

2. Well I will be writing a letter to our city council (what a damn joke)
and the paper... another damn joke, asking this question. What exactly do our taxes pay for?

I don't mind paying taxes, but hot damn it, I want a return, and that includes you not loosing your tires or me having to pay for the emergency call.

3. The kidlet works for a city funded arts project that's supposed to pay them -
Only $40 every 3 months plus a pizza party for putting on plays for elementary school students, but still, the kids signed a contract. Six months ago. And they haven't gotten paid yet - neither have the two theatre "facilitators" who take the time out of their lives to train, produce, and transport these kids as well as contact the schools to schedule the plays.

I've told the main facilitator to contact the city council - there's supposed to be some NEA and state funding that the city supposedly has for set aside for the troop, as well as the money the schools are paying to have the plays for their kids during assemblies. The city has been promising to release the funding for the past three months, but where is it?

What a great lesson for the kids. They should write a skit about it...
