San Diego DUers
This is Maestro from Dallas. I want to warn you that the San Diego Tribune has just hired a true scumbag as a columnist. His name is Ruben Navarrette. I have fought this creep since the late 90's when he was at the Arizona Republic. He is basically unethical, working for conservative peoples and spouting their agenda without disclosing this fact. He's worked for ultra right wing thug, Ron Unz, for example. He's unethical and fits in quite well with the payola scams realized by the rethuglicans.

I would write the San Diego Tribune and express your misgiving for their hiring of someone with such lack of journalistic integrity. In fact, I have been contacted by the Dallas D.A.'s office who is investigating him for ethics charges and I believe criminal ones as well. He's scum. Be careful.

1. They have been running his columns here for a few years...

...and your right, he is awful. He will fit right in with the rest of the slime in our op-eds here. They recently fired James Goldborough for being a liberal, and I have a feeling Navarette is his replacement.

Good news is, AAR is #1 in talk radio here right now.

2. Stay vigilant
and write in anytime he espouses his brand of ideology. The difference is now that is part of the editorial staff.

5. Goldsborough actually quit.....
He quit because they wouldn't run one of his columns and he got tired of fighting the editorial board.

Joe Perkins has also left though thankfully so.

3. I'm told the Union Tribune has my old boss at Signonsandiego.com
as it's boss now. Used to work for him while he managed the Mercury News web site up in the bay area. I'll look into passing him a note on this. Not sure if he's that close to the newspaper division or not.
