Front Range Colorado DU Face to Face: organizing

I'm thinking it would be great fun to get as many of us front-rangers together as we can this summer for a F2F. (Western Slopers will of COURSE be welcome, but knowing the distances, it may not be practical.)

I'm thinking a potluckish picnic about Mid-June on a Saturday or Sunday (June 11, June 12, June 18, June 19, or June 25, June 26). Considering the distances, I'm thinking mid-point is probably Castlewood Canyon State Park, south of Frederick on Highway 83. It is a day-use park, so no camping is allowed. If a group camping trip is something that sounds interesting, please PM me as that does sound like fun.

Alternately and additionally, I'm thinking about a coffee/booze talk and get-together. On this, I have fewer ideas, though dinner at the Jerusalem Restaurant near University of Denver comes to mind.

I'm really open to ideas and input... let's talk about this.

1. We Don't Mind Driving to Denver

The Princess has trouble with altitudes over 5,000 ft, because of her allergies. Since most people probably live in and around Denver, that may be best.

I'm sure there must be a good brew pub someone can suggest.

2. Castlewood is at about 5000

As far as I can tell. There's no going up like there is for, say, Monument.

Next time I go down to talk rockets, I'll see if I can find an altimeter.

Is there a temporary med that can help? My little Queen has asthma and some allergies. Got a quick fix thing from the doc. Seems to help.

There are decent brew pubs all up and down the Front Range. Someone just pick one. Previously someone suggested one of the pubs in Castle Rock. Did that ever come to be?

Haven't found anything yet. I have trouble breathing sometimes during my daily commute to Colorado Springs - the 1300-ft altitude shift can be rough, especially when the weather is bad and the barametric pressure is low.

Speaking of Colorado DU get-togethers, can I ask what happened to the last person who tried to organize an event of this type. I noticed that HawkeyeX was "tombstoned". What did I miss?
