1.  I got a four foot drift in front of my garage door.
Good thing I'm home for break otherwise my parents would have a hell of a time digging out. Fortunately for them, their young son will be home to shovel for a few hours. Unfortunately for me... I get to do most of the shoveling.

4. Up to my hips in snow here in north Lakewood
Wednesday we got a roof rake to pull snow off the roof. We worked on that during the afternoon and evening. By Thursday morning it looked like we didn't do a thing. Now, we have a mountain range of snow around the house from what we've gotten off the roof. The snow still up there is so heavy.

The city came through our little street and plowed yesterday. Tomorrow we'll take the truck over to Soopers. I'm getting cabin fever.

They said we had more snow in 2003 but I don't know. Up here on this hill where we are, it snowed like a sumnabitch this week. Maybe I'm just getting old!

5. Ruts on the side streets will be bad for awhile.
I shoveled out two people across the street and myself and a 45ft. path in the driveway. It kicked my ass, I was fried friday. I'm sore today.

6. Boulder,,,,, I've seen anywhere from 27 " to 33" posted,,,,
Lots of snow,,,, We went to Soopers here in Gunbarrel area and I was shocked to see some bare shelves,,,,, Some folks were saying that the nearest Safeway shelves were really empty,,,, dang,,,, No delivery trucks for 2 days,,,, it made me feel guilty to be so surprised that there might actually be shortages and outages,,,,

7. stores looked like russian supermarkets
empty shelves, long lines

gas stations out of gas too

when the revolution comes, the capitalists could really screw us if two days without trucks basically empties the grocery stores and the gas stations

8. yep,,,, sad & scary,,,,,
us urban folks really are used to "just in time" inventory,,,, seriously, we could go a couple of weeks without a grocery store,,,,, but take away electricity & water and that shortens the time even more,,,,

This storm has helped me understand a little better how vulnerable we all are.

10. Same here in Colorado Springs
I went shopping for some bread with my mom (since I'm home for winter break) and I said "wow... this looks like communism". There were plenty of hot dog buns but hardly any real bread.

12. I'd post something but...
Edited on Tue Dec-26-06 04:41 PM by HawkeyeX
I wasn't around when the snowstorm hit. I actually left Denver the day before to New York, and my parents were supposed to fly to Vegas (they had to cancel). So my parents paid for the plowing and cleaning out the driveway and make a *REALLY* tiny path to the door. FWIW, I got home last night.

I feel bad for you guys, really I do.

I would have had cabin fever if that was the case.
