Seeking progressive-owned motel in Montrose
Edited on Mon Jan-21-08 02:47 PM by WritersBlock

Hi all,

We're spending our holiday on the western slope this summer, and Montrose is gonna be our base of operations. I have family there with whom we could stay, but they don't have the internets, and I will be needing to work online, so we'll be getting a motel room.

We'd rather spend our money with a company run by progressives... any recommendations? We'd vastly prefer Montrose; could go as far south as Ridgway, but that would be pushing it, and don't really wanna go as far north as Delta.

Any suggestions appreciated! :)

1. what a pretty area to go to
I am not sure about liberal leaning, but my union (NALC #47) had their summer convention two years ago at this Best Western, so I am assuming that it is liberal and pro-union leaning, as we tend to look for those factors. This Best Western wasn't a fancy hotel, by any means, but it was comfortable and clean. And you are right- Montrose is a good base to go see the beauty of the San Juan Mountains or to experience the wine country of the Western Slope.

Right next to it this restaurant called "Starvin Arvins", which had great breakfast food, although the dinner might have lacked some finesse.

2. I wonder if that's the old Lazy IG?

Location sure looks familiar - is it by the bowling alley and what used to be the "new" A&W that isn't there anymore? Funny you should mention this one... stayed there many a time when I was a kid, and it was my first thought :D
