Jared Polis (District 2) on Iraq
Dear Hawkeye-X,

Standing on the podium last week with fellow progressive Democrats running for U.S. Congress and introducing our plan to end the war in Iraq was both exciting and solemn; exciting because we have a plan that offers hope both at home and abroad, but solemn because of the massive toll on the Iraqi people and our 4,000 lost brothers and sisters.

Not content to wait for our elected Democrats in Washington to take action, seven of us running for Congress are taking on the mantle of leadership early and have released a responsible plan to end the Iraq war. I am proud to put forward a comprehensive plan to end the war in Iraq and win the peace, which has since been signed onto by over 30 federal candidates, with more joining us everyday.

With your help, our new generation of Democratic leaders will be elected with a mandate to end this war, a mandate that even the Democrats in Congress today have proven too timid to honor.

Ever since returning from my trip to Iraq last November, just as I have worked to draw attention to the chaos and instability of the region, I have spoken out against the use of mercenaries and about the plight of the millions of Iraqi refugees flooding Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon.

The bottom line is that simply bringing all of our troops home is not enough – we must also focus on the broader implications and impact that this war of oil and greed has inflicted upon our nation and our reputation abroad.

Our Responsible Plan will:
Bring all troops home from Iraq
End the use of mercenaries in combat operations
Provide for the plight of the Iraq refugees
Restore our Constitution and civil liberties
You can support our call to end the war in Iraq by signing the Responsible Plan.

It’s time for us to be the leaders we want to see in Washington. Join us today!

Jared

3. If I could vote for Polis, I would. Can Fort Collins?
If the girl child stays, she can if she changes her registration.

She is not actually a child. The "girl child" is my daughter. I have a "boy child", as well. ;)
