Now's Your Chance to Submit Questions for the Lamont/Lieberman Debate!
(Mods: I just posted this in GD-Polics, but being somewhat of a DUbie I don't know if this cross post is OK and - if it's not - which is the best forum to post this in. But I thought that the CT Forum should see this in case they missed it in GD-P. Feel free to remove whichever is superflous, if any. We now resume out regularly-scheduled post):

I just saw the commercial - NBC 30 will be carrying the debate in addition to CSPAN tomorrow (Thursday) night at 7pm Eastern. And guess what? They're inviting the public to submit questions! Here's the link:

http://www.nbc30.com/politics/9437547/detail.html

I don't know if they'll actually read any of our submissions, but I figure responding to their request will be at least as much fun as it is to fill out that Presidential Prayer feedback page.

Here's my question, for what it's worth (directed to Joe Leaverman):

"By petitioning to run in the general election even if you lose the primary, it appears that you are valuing your own self-interest over the interests of the Democratic Party. How would you answer this charge?"

1. My Q to Lieberman!
Mr. Lieberman. Tell me how you can be against virtual violence, such as those in videogames and movies, yet you haven't wavered in your support for the death and destruction caused in Iraq by American forces which have killed, by many estimates, tens of thousands of woman and children? If you want to teach the world respect maybe you should stop being your own real life Grand Theft Auto mob boss. Thank you.

2. My questions I sent in
To both of them
The WSJ on June 23 http://online.wsj.com/article_email/SB115103062578188438-lMyQjAxMDE2NTIxODAyMzgwWj.html reported that corporate executive benefits are playing a large and hidden role in the declining health of America's pensions. These executive benefits are liabilities that are “largely hidden, because corporations don't distinguish them from overall pension obligations in their federal financial filings. As a result, the savings that companies make by curtailing pensions for regular retirees -- which have totaled billions of dollars in recent years -- can mask a rising cost of benefits for executives”. Would you favor reform of the pension system so that executive benefits are no longer lumped with regular retiree pensions in federal financial statements and so that corporations can not shift regular workers pension funds to corporate executives?

To Lieberman
Senator Lieberman stated that he did not support a filibuster of Samuel Alito’s nomination because Alito’s confirmation vote did not meet the standard of “extraordinary circumstances” decreed by the Senate “Gang of 14.” If packing the Supreme Court with pro-choice opponents like Samuel Alito is not an extraordinary circumstance, then can Sen. Lieberman please tell us what constitutes an “extraordinary circumstance”?

To Ned Lamont
1) Assuming you win the US Senate Primary and General Election, what senate committees would you seek to join?

2) Sen. Obama said that he chose Sen. Lieberman as his mentor. If you have a choice, which senator would you like to be your mentor in the senate?

3) What is your position on “free” trade?

4) Do you think that hospitals, especially religious ones, should be allowed to deny rape victims EC or emergency contraception? Do you think pharmacists should be allowed to deny customers a legal prescription for birth control, HIV medication or any other medication that their religion claims is immoral or supports immoral behavior?
