Stork's name to stay on ballot
The Democratic challenger to veteran Congressman Clay Shaw pulled out of the race too late for another candidate to take his place on the ballot.

BY ROBERTO SANTIAGO

Thanks to his tardiness, Jim Stork will face off against Republican incumbent Clay Shaw for the District 22 congressional seat Nov. 2 whether he wants to or not, the Florida Division of Elections has ruled.

Stork officially informed the Division of Elections nine days after its Sept. 15 deadline that he was withdrawing from the race for health reasons.

''Mr. Stork's name will not be withdrawn from the ballot,'' said Alia Faraj, spokeswoman for the elections division. ``It will appear on the absentee ballots and on the ballots on Nov. 2. We will not accept a new Democratic challenger.''

1. So, does Jeb appoint the seat if Shaw loses?
Let me guess. Either way, a Repuke will be in the seat . . .

4. No, the Governor would call a special election
But that is an unlikey scenario. Stork had an uphill battle when he was in the race. He's not campaigning or raising money.
