New Florida Insurance Website
http://www.stormingmad.com/index.html

I saw this on my local news last night and I thought I would share it with you.

Here are a couple of things I found interesting:

Citizens Property Insurance on the path to becoming number one insurer in Florida.

The Florida Legislature has sided with insurance companies and allowed them to raise premium rates up to 5 percent automatically, without state oversight..

1. Thanks for posting the site. I'm here in Florida and wishin I wasn't......
I think us Floridians are gonna have to do more. We are going to have to start screaming real loud. We are gonna have to get out in the streets and make them hear us.

3. We have homeowner's through Cypress
While rates have gone up, they don't seem as bad as some others. We are a few miles inland, though. Citizen'a may be your only choice. We found our policy through Allstate, with whom we have auto insurance and had previous homeowner's in another state. Talk to a reputable broker is my advice.

4. Citizens Is The ONLY Choice For Anyone Who Lives In A Mobile Home
that is at least 25 years old. My mother in law who is 94 and lives with us has to pay $1374.00 a year on a SS income of $765.00 a month. He living will states her place CAN NOT be sold until she passes and she's been with us for 7 years. I called ALL OVER the place to see if we could get something cheaper, but the person I talked to in Tallahassee was nothing but RUDE.

I asked if there was some sort of assistance for those with limited incomes, he said not that he knew of. I told him about our circumstances and he told me to contact my representative!! Her place is in Citrus County, I live In Sarasota County! NOBODY was of ANY help. This idiot also said to me, "well, if she can't afford it, she'll just have to do without, or else YOU can pay it for her!" I was so mad I just slammed the phone down! We need insurance reform. My home insurance is SKY HIGH and we were just notified a couple of months ago that our Insurance Co is leaving and we will be "assigned" a new insurer! I pay close to $3,000.00 a year and we don't have a large home either. Three bedrooms, 2 baths... around 1750 sq. ft. so I think it's pretty high!

She used to pay around $350.00 a year, but since she lives here she HAS to have insurance because we aren't there. My husband does take her back up there about every six weeks and maintains the place, but the insurance is OUTRAGEOUS!

5. I know where you are coming from
The reason they told us that we had to have Citizen's was because we were less than 5 miles from the beach. We are 4.5 miles. Our Mobile is over 40 years old, but we have never had ANY Hurricane damage. That really doesn't matter to these Insurance companies. After Hurricane Frances and Jeanne we got dropped by our insurance. WE NEVER HAD A CLAIM!!! We filed a claim after Frances, but we didn't hit our deductible, so they said to forget about it. We had to stay away from our home because we had no water or power.

6. 5% are you kidding me
my homeowners insurance went up 62% this year and probably more than that last year. I have live here for two years and I think the first year my insurance was about $1,200 and this year it was just shy of $3,000 - with a stop of $1,800 last year - I have never made a claim on homeowner's insurance in my life....
