The Rod Smith for Governor commercial...sucks!
For those who haven't seen it, he's standing next to a bus, with a helicopter going in the background, AS IF he had just taken a flight over Florida. No, the copter didn't fly and there was no aerial footage, just this dumb shot - with all the background noise from the copter and the bus making Smith hard to hear.

There's also fake news photographers with a mike on a pole, as if this was a news actuality and not a badly staged campaign commercial.

His big issue, with which he hopes to topple Bush and lead Florida into a new future - "investigating" insurance companies that have tripled their prices, after stiffing people on their home damage claims. Prominently mentioned are the "blue roofs" covered with FEMA blue tarpoleans...but of course we couldn't see those blue roofs, because they didn't actually fly in the freaking copter they rented!

Does Smith have such a bad voice that he has to have all that background noise, so he has to yell?

Aren't there more essential issues to discuss, like power blackouts? Polluted water? Global warming that is killing this state? The crumbling infrastructure? Schools where 90 percent of the high school graduates can't freaking read? Did Smith have to lead off with such a lame issue? He isn't running for insurance commissioner, but governor!

Unless his campaign staff gets off their collective butts and start applying their brains (hopefully not educated in Florida schools) we can look forward to seeing Bush or his appointed Republican successor in Tallahassee.

2. It is a lousy commercial
But, he doesn't have to topple Bush. He's term limited.

I'll let him know the next time I see him, because I can't stand that DLC piece of shit Jim Davis!

3. He's got two commercials, and they're both horrible
Scripting, production values, concept, are all completely terrible.

4. The biggest problem with Smith isn't the bad commercials..
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 11:41 AM by SteppingRazor
it's the mountains of Big Sugar money.

On edit: Oh, and Smith isn't trying to topple Bush. Jeb can't run for re-election -- know your enemy, dude! :hi:

5. Bush can't run again? That's Bush-it!
He's part of the Bush Family Evil Empire. The BFEE always gets its way. They will even claim that Jeb really only served one term, the previous one was just a "practice round." Just watch.

Smith gains, but Democrats undecided

JACKSONVILLE — With just over three weeks to go until the primary election, the Democratic race for governor appears to have closed to a tie with only one clear leader: "undecided."

A new poll released Friday by a Tallahassee business group showed Tampa Congressman Jim Davis ahead of Alachua state Sen. Rod Smith 21 percent to 20 percent among likely Democratic voters.

With a 4 percent margin of error, the poll represents a virtual tie — a dramatic improvement for Smith that matches recent polls by Zogby International for The Miami Herald and internal polls privately cited by Smith supporters.

"Everything I see tells me this is a very close race," Smith said Friday from Pensacola. "Starting from where I started, I'm hugely encouraged. When I first started, I was at 4 percent and the margin of error was 5 percent."

8. But Davis' commercials just went out a few days ago . . .
Rod Smith's ads started running at least a week before Jim's. (I've only seen Jim's ads twice, whereas I've seen Rod's a few dozen times . . .) This poll was likely conducted before Jim's commercials started running.
