State Senate District 30: Slosberg vs. Deutch
Has anybody in South Florida been following this race? This isn't in my district in North Palm Beach County, but the contentious nature of this race has made headlines.

Slosberg was once a favorite of many South County Democrats. The popular Robert Wexler was an ardent supporter of his early on in the campaign, but the two have had a bitter split leading Wexler to endorse the political newcomer, Ted Deutch.

Recently, Deutch, an attorney, filed a $2 million defamation suit against Slosberg. Slosberg responed by filing an elections complaint againt Deutch.

Personally, I've also grown distasteful of Slosberg. While he did do good work with helping victims of hurricanes, it seems like there's always television cameras around and it smacks of self-promotion. Slosberg angrily accuses Deutch of taking a 2 day cruise after Hurricane Wilma, but fails to mention that Deutch held no elected office at the time and did take part in post-hurricane efforts.

Slosberg seems to have become too controversial for even some Democrats. Earlier this year, he was fired from the health care commission of Palm Beach County. There are also rumors that Slosberg has financed primary campaigns against some of the more liberal Palm Beach county Democratic elected officials.

1. I think I prefer Deutch, overall.
I mean, those cheesy, folksy "Let Irv Serve" commercials are enough to turn me off of him :eyes:

2. Slosberg is a nutball
and seems to be a DINO as well. The whole "I helped people after Wilma" was a photo op, pure and simple. He hauled so many news cameras with him that they threw him out of King's Point in Delray Beach. I went with Ted.

4. As of this hour............
Deutch is handing Slosberg his hat. It's 55.3% to 44.7%. I have no indication of how much of the vote total is counted yet, but it does look as if Slosberg is going home.
