Buchanan, Jennings win in District 13 races

Vern Buchanan edged state Rep. Nancy Detert in the Republican primary for the U.S. Congressional District 13 seat Tuesday night.

Detert led the vote throughout the evening, but began to lose ground to Buchanan as results trickled in from outlying portions of the district, especially in Manatee County.

Shortly after 11 p.m., Buchanan gave a victory speech to his supporters.

He first thanked well-known ESPN announcer and Sarasota resident Dick Vitale.

1. I Didn't See Him, But I Think It Was Charlie Wells Who Helped

him a lot too. Heard Hudson was pretty P.O.ed too and wasn't even sure he was going to back him in the November election. That would be good, but it would be almost a FIRST to have a Democrat from Sarasota County Representing us!! I wanted Schneider to win, but I never really thought she would. It's too bad she got abandoned though!

Wells has a lot of pull, being the former Chief of Police, but I don't like Buchanan at all. I would have preferred Hudson to him. Kind of reminds me of.... it's not WHAT you know... it's WHO you know!!! Happens here all the time!

Now I just have to wait til November to see if I'm FINALLY rid of The Witch "Cruella!" But as I say all the time, don't put your guard down around here!
