Latest Dem happenings in Atlanta....
Things seem to be heating up, but i don't see people talking about them here, so I figured I would make this post, in case y'all aren't on the same mailing lists as I am....

5/7- Tomorrow- James Carville Derby Viewing/Sen. David Adelman Event
You can sip mint juleps and watch the Kentucky Derby with James Carville tomorrow at a fundraiser for Senator David Adelman, the Georgia Democratic Senate Whip. Senator Adelman is offering a reduced entry price to Red Clay Democrats, taking $50 off of the suggested $250 per person donation if you make your donation on line at www.donate.net/donationSelector/basket.asp?dept_id=859&shopper_id=338446. The reception will be held tomorrow, Saturday, May 7, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Downtown Ritz Carlton, 181 Peachtree Street. Questions, call 404-407-5055.

5/13- Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton Reception
A reception for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in support of her 2006 Senate re-election will be held on Friday, May 13th from 5:30 – 7:00 PM at the Capital City Club, 7 Harris Street, NW (downtown Atlanta). 5/17- Mid-Fulton Dems Monthly Meeting
The Mid-Fulton Dems will hold their monthly meeting on May 17th at 6:30 p.m. at Manuel's Tavern (corner of North and N. Highland). Meeting highlights include City Council Candidate Kwanza Hall and State Senator Sam Zamarippa speaking on the potential local city and county realignments.

***6/1- Theresa Heinz Kerry Keynote Speaker at Georgia Non-Profit Summit*** (exciting and affordable!)
Theresa Heinz Kerry, in her role as head of the Heinz Family Foundation, will be delivering the keynote address at the Georgia Nonprofit Summit on June 1 in Atlanta. Opportunity Knocks, part of the Georgia Center for Non-Profits, will be hosting the Georgia Nonprofit Summit on June 1 in Atlanta at the Georgia International Convention Center (near the airport). Everyone is invited to attend. The cost of Heinz Kerry's talk is $75 ($40 with a valid student ID) and includes lunch. Registration is available at www.gcn.org/summit-register.html.

6/18- 2006 Red Clay Democrats Fundraiser
Red Clay Democrats will hold our annual fundraiser on the afternoon of Saturday, June 18th, 2005 at Park Tavern in Midtown. We'll be out on the grass and under the tent, with free drinks and munchies. Funds raised at this event will go to Democratic candidates in the 2006 elections. Stay tuned for further details on the event- for now, mark your calendars and start telling all your friends to also save the date! If you are interested in being a host for the event (which involves committing to recruit a certain number of attendees or a certain level donation), volunteering at the event or making some other kind of donation to the event, please get in touch with Mike Fitzgerald at (go to website - i've removed his addie from here). Let's have fun and raise money to help take back the Governor's mansion, the house and the senate!

8/23- Red Clay Democrats Freshman Legislator Forum
Mark your calendars- the second Red Clay Democrats Freshman Legislators' Forum is scheduled for Tuesday, August 23. This is an opportunity to hear impressions and experiences of Democrats who completed their first term in office this spring. To date, confirmed participants include Rep. Mike Jacobs, Rep. Brian Thomas, Rep. Jane Kidd and Sen. Doug Stoner as panelists, with Rep. Stephanie Stuckey Benfield as moderator. Watch out for additional event details and possible panel additions in future Red Clay email blasts.

...friendly to dems, that is. But they were willing to allow us to have our breakfast there. I'll try to post events regularly. Most of the metro Atlanta progressive events are posted on the Georgia for Democracy calendar: www.georgiafordemocracy.org. We try to keep it updated and many other groups use it for posting events, as well.
