26. God damn it. Me, too.
I put up with the shitty signal and the inane, repetitive commercials because I really enjoy the programs.

God damn it.

34. No big thing
Go on line or satellite radio and be sure to write your local station and remind them how you don't hear those local advertiser any longer. Man they hate the future.

2. Awww SH*T! Should we contact AAR to see if they can work
on getting on another station? There are LOTS of stations here in Atlanta, and I've always had trouble receiving AAR here in Gainesville.

3. we can do two things
Edited on Sat Jan-28-06 06:57 PM by wyldwolf
We can petition Joe Weber to keep it where it is or we can do like you suggest.

I might also suggest we target a low rated AM and ask them to pick up AAR

Jon Sinton, prez of Air America, lives in Atlanta, by the way. And his brother, Steve Sinton (co-founder of AAR), is running for US Congress, 6th District.

8. There's no way the president of Air America would allow
it to not be on the air in his hometown, right?

right?

who is this weber character?

12. I follow politics closely, and I only heard of Sinton yesterday
Being a realist, what are the chances of him actually beating Tom Price?

15. I live in Price's district
We HAVE to get him out. I am part of the Equestrian community that makes up a large part of Price's area. I am starting by telling everyone I know that Price voted against the Horse Slaughter Ban. He was one of the FEW Repubs or Dems that did. His justification was the jobs of the USDA meat inspectors. Unfortunately I did not keep his response to me because it made me SO MAD! Now I wish I had kept it.

5. What's the possibility that a more powerful AM station would pick up
the AA programming, if it's dropped by 1690, I wonder?

I love having WWAA out there broadcasting, but the signal's so dicey I can barely pick it up at my home. I wind up listening to the Cincinatti affiliate (WCKY-1530) after dark.

6. It really needs a more powerful station.
I live in Woodstock and work in Marietta and can't get AA at either location. I have to listen to it on the Web.

that would be a blessing in disguise. There signal doesn't really go much beyond the perimeter.

9. I get it pretty well during the day
in Duluth & Alpharetta. However, early mornings (around 6) it often gets stepped on by an oldies station out of Chicago.

10. I'm glad to hear it's not only me and MY radios!!!!
I can pick AAR in the car, but it's got static that gets worse if I'm traveling north. I live in Flowery Branch. I can't get ANY decent reception inside my house! I even bought a new radio that was rated as one of the best for bringing in am AM signal. Sometimes, I can find a spot inside the house where AAR comes in, but constantly drifts off the signal!

I always end up streaming.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with these guys from Atlanta who are part of AAR?

That sounds like the best option we have!

11. Try 1530 AM from Ohio after dark. They rerun Randi in the evening
during the regular Majority Report hour because they run Ed during her regualt time.

14. Disappointing
I know we won't know the outcome of this for awhile, but it's disappointing. With WSB's Hannity/Savage/Boortz lineup, one point-of-view is prevalent in Atlanta, hard to get a different word in edgewise..

17. Hope they pick up a better
radio station. I work in South Atlanta--right at the bottom where 285 meets Moreland and it's hard to get it there. Avondale Estates isn't that freaking far WTF.

19. Don't kiss it off yet
The Phoenix affiliate was sold, but the new owners agreed to allow AA to stay on the air while they look for a new spot on the dial. Of course, this may be because the Phoenix affiliate actually turns a profit and has good local hosts like Charles Goyette and Dr. Mike Newcombe.

20. At the DU meetup we heard that Air Atlanta is looking at 2 other stations
to purchase. The owner hopes to find one with better transmission power than the current station. Let's keep our fingers crossed! :)

22. We will all have to wait and see.
I barely get Air America if at all in my truck. Maybe the radio's not so good. The radio in my new work vehicle gets great 1690 AM reception during the day. Go figure. I can't get Air America in my house at all. Mike Malloy said that the XM satellite radio seemed to be the way to go since you can get a unit that works in your car and your house. :)

They rebroadcast Randi during time Majority Report is on, followed by Mike.

24. I'd like to see them get on a different frequency
A friend of mine drives an older car whose radio doesn't even have 1690 as an available frequency. Wonder how many potential listeners in the ATL can't pick up WWAA because their radios won't even tune to 1690? And even for those who can tune in, the signal is pretty weak in many areas.

25. Damn! I'm so sorry to hear this. They did the same thing in the Phoenix
area. AA got good ratings and was making the big boys nervous so they got a "christian" group to buy out the station. At least we can still stream.

32. Get XM
I used to think people who would spend 10 or 15 bucks a month to listen to the radio were nuts. Then my wife got me XM for Christmas in '04 and I have not turned on commercial radio once since then.

XM carries AA, and the reception is perfect. Plus a ton of other good programming, if you're so inclined.

33. Our article in Creative Loafing
I would like to invite everyone to pick up the August 28th edition of Creative Loafing and check out the article on Atlanta Progressive Talk. Our group is still working with the local broadcasters to get a full-time liberal talk station to replace Air Atlanta. You are also invited to stop by the website www.AtlantaProgressiveTalk.com and sign our petition and download the advertiser letter of interest. I hope everyone will check it out and pass the word.
