Creator of Air America Radio RUNS FOR CONGRESS!!!
One of the creators of Air America Radio IS RUNNING FOR CONGRESS, in Georgia’s 6th District. That’s Newt Gingrich territory, but the district has a lot of technical businesses and contains some of suburban Atlanta. This is just the kind of area Ruy Texeira discussed in The Emerging Democratic Majority. Please help Steve turn a red district blue!

STEVE SINTON ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR CONGRESS IN DISTRICT 6

Max Cleland, former U.S. Senator Personally Endorses Sinton’s Campaign

Marietta, GA – Steve Sinton, an entrepreneurial radio broadcaster and talk show host, and a founder of Air America Radio, announced his candidacy for Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District on Monday, January 23, 2006. Former U.S. Senator Max Cleland attended the event and endorsed Sinton for Congress.

At the press announcement, Senator Cleland quoted General Norman Schwarzkopf when saying, “It does not take courage to send soldiers into war. It takes courage to go into war.” Continued Senator Cleland, “Unfortunately, running for political office these days is a lot like going into war. It takes courage. I proudly endorse Steve and his candidacy, and encourage the 6th District to help us take back the House in order to restore political balance in Washington.”

“Congress spends too much time and energy protecting special interests rather than finding solutions to the everyday problems facing working families,” say Sinton. “I am not a politician; I am a concerned neighbor and citizen. As Georgia’s 6th district congressman, I will work to make government more responsive to the needs of my neighbors. My Republican and Democratic friends are not happy these days. Washington is broken, and I want to help fix it. We can do better.”

2. That's GREAT! I don't live in the 6th Dist. but I'll support him!
Who's he running aginst?

I'm also hoping Max decides to run again! I think he stands a GOOD chance of beating either Chambliss or Isackson!

3. The whispers going 'round now is that
Shirley Franklin will be taking on ol' Sackofshit Chambliss in '08.
Nothing final, but this is what's going around in certain circles.

4. Ooo! I would love for Shirley Franklin to run.
She's great. Did you see her interview w/ Brian Lamb on CSPAN? She didn't rule out running for higher office. :)

11. Know him; he'll win just by saying "WE HATE DEM ILLEGALS!"
Sad but true.

5. I know him personally and introduced him last Saturday morning
Anyone in the 6th district (or the state for that matter) can meet him. He usually attends the NFD meeting every second Wednesday night of the month.

9. He was at the 'Real State of the Union' also..

Real SOTU - Sharp guy, sharp looking, I figure he's got a small chance against Price. I'm in his district also, and unfortunately it's frighteningly Republican. I give him kudos for running, though.

10. I am on his opponents' "Youth Advisory Council"
I live in 6th district, the 2nd most republican district in the United States, and I really doubt he can win.

But having met his opponent and the incumbent Tom Price, I say he should crush that "Fair Tax"-loving, anti-immigrant, prowar bully into the ground!

Give him hell!

I'll die of a heart attack if this guy wins. I just don't see it happening.

14. He may not win this time
We have to run people in these districts. Mr Sinton attended the Fulton Dems lunch today along with several other candidates running in districts that are traditionally Republican. State Representative Nan Orrock addressed the group and reminded us that running candidates in as many districts as possible is vital. It forces the opposition to spend money, defend their ridiculous ideologies; and it gives the Dems a reason to go to the polls to vote for up and down ballot candidates. Sinton may not win this time, but we may be surprised by the support and percentage he does get. This is just on battle in a long war.
