anyone up for a picnic?
GADUPSAC (Georgia DU Parents with Small, Active Children - basically RubyDuby and myself, the Malloys pending their receipt of the official induction letter) would like to suggest a get-together in a park somewhere, some time before it gets truly hot. I know CottonBear has mentioned Athens, but I'm open to wherever since I imagine folks aren't probably driving to Paulding. :) Any interest?

7. As one of the founding members of GADUPSAC ( I love how that sounds when you try to say it)
I'm up for anywhere in the state. Me, Bezerko and FutureDem would love to see everyone and this setting sounds perfect!

We took little one on his first picnic a couple of weekends ago to FDR State Park in Pine Mountain and he truly loved the opportunity to pick up as much dirt and grass as he could before we dragged him back to the middle of the blanket. I'm sure he'd be up for the challenge again!

Who wants deviled eggs???

8. You bring the deviled eggs, and...
I'll bring Leap and the Marracas!

Seriously, Athens sounds great to me. Either way, the Ga. DUers with children and just Ga. Duer's, or just us GADUPSACs, either way works for me. Guess I just enjoy Casper and MGKrebs company whatever the occasion. I think we should change Futuredem to Little Jezzy!

9. A picnic sounds great! What park do you have in mind?
I'm flexible. You parents choose a location and a date and I'll try to be there. I will be out of town over the Memorial Day weekend. I'd love to see all of the littlest DUers!

Piedmont is central (for Atlantans anyway), but of course huge and could be busy. I'll do a little research. :hi:

And Future Dem? I'm there, dude.

If you want to make a trip out of it, I can recommend High Falls Park down near Jackson.
Otherwise, I'm good with Athens, Piedmont, or whatever.

Not Saturday the 9th though, we've got a Fulton County Dem brunch.

Panola Mountain website shows no availability for picnic shelters that day. :-(

31. Buford Dam, ~30 miles north of Atlanta; it's googleable
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=buford+dam+park,+georgia&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=40.817312,70.224609&ie=UTF8&ll=34.154815,-84.065055&spn=0.00522,0.008572&z=17&om=1

There are actually quite a few park areas around Lake Lanier, but I was thinking about one near the dam; it's got a playground, albeit not one of the greatest ones.

No idea if that's even remotely convenient for anyone here.

I'm perfectly happy to drive 50 miles or so to meet up with fellow DUers, just thought I'd throw this out there.

29. How about Sweetwater Creek State Park?
http://www.gastateparks.org/net/go/parks.aspx?LocationID=80&s=0.0.1.5

The picnic area reservations are $60.
Or we can go sans reservations and just take over a large spot...

What does everyone think?

Not an unreasonable haul for us. I imagine you could collect a share of the 60 bucks from all who attend. Even if just two other groups show, it's probably worth it.
