I'm in Boise by the way. I almost forgot there was an election until I come up to my doorstep to see a flyer by Brandi Swindell saying "I'm a religious lunatic, I run on one issue alone, abortion and church in our schools." I'm paraphrasing.

I went down and voted against that bitch. Hope she doesn't win. But who am I kidding in this republican stronghold.

1. Swindell is the Janet Jackson of the Religious Right
The City of Boise isn't that GOP. We do have a democratic mayor.

My prediction for what it's worth: Incumbents will be reelected.

4. I'm thinking Tibbs may unseat Jerome Mapp
Many were upset he wasn't given the Chief of Police job, and a few thought he should run for Mayor. His (mis)handling of the Matthew Jones police shooting may be his undoing, however.

I voted for Mapp.

5. It is a strong possibility BUT
many don't think we should have two pro law enforcement reps on the Council.

3. I voted absentee against Bambi Swindell a couple of weeks ago

Despite Boise being a 'religious stronghold', the letters to the editor in the Statesman have run pretty strongly in Maryanne Jordan's favor.

I don't think most of us are quite ready for Sunday blue laws here just yet.

7. Jordan is beating Swindell 70%-30%
with 40% of precincts reporting in a higher-than-expected turnout. Hopefully this trouncing will send a clear message to the far right fundies who were hoping to win the next Boise mayor's race on the basis of the relocated 10 Commandments monument, creationism in schools, anti-gay rhetoric, restricting abortion rights, ad nauseum.
