Obama's record

Vinny LaVecchia
Published August 15, 2004

Chicago -- I know America is in love Barack Obama--well the idea of him at least.

How many people actually watched the keynote speech?

How many people have actually looked at his record?

How many people listen to what he says, past the grand ideas of typical rhetoric (albeit well-spoken rhetoric).

He represents one of the most liberal districts in Illinois.

His views would make him one of the most liberal members in the U.S. Senate.

I encourage people to actually get past his well-spoken rhetoric and know his record.

The voters of Illinois would be shocked.

With Barack already anointed, can Alan Keyes get a fair shot with the media? Keyes isn't from Illinois--and?

It's funny how his views represent Illinois way more than Obama's old, beaten down, far-left liberal view.

Every columnist can jump on Keyes because he is an easy target right now.

I thought Bill Clinton brought in the new moderate Democratic Party.

Barack is setting the Democratic Party back a few decades.

As if keyes is not a radical! Why do they even print this crappy RW talking point letter. Nevermind, I know why...

You know what to do!

3. This letter writer says Obama is a left wing liberal
like it was something bad. When I read this I think ..oh he's really Good.

Maybe the writer should have pointed out what Barack's terrible left wing policies were?

5. FAR better to endorse thieves and hypocrites!
Don't ya just love the Illinois press? They loved George Ryan, Jim Ryan and lastly Jack Ryan until they got caught out and exposed for what they are. Then, suddenly, they were a liability and they were in disfavor.

Obama stood up and said Ryan's sex life shouldn't be a part of the race for Senate. It was the media who pushed it--not the "librul" they want to hate so much. It was a GOP appointee that brought down George Ryan--not some wacky "librul" like Obama.

Amazes heck outta me that ANY GOPiglet is better to them than some "librul" like Obama. Makes me wonder just what it will take for them to see the IL GOP for what it is--or even the national GOP, for that matter.

I can only wonder if they will show the same "steadfast support" for the chimp with his myriad of cock ups after they become commonly recognized.

6. How Else Can You Spin This Disaster???
It's amusing and painful to see how contorted the GOOP and it's "defenders" have gone throughout this latest election cycle fiasco.

We're seeing these Obama attacks just to save some face...maintain a party line while the walls fall in. This party reminds me of the confusion of the Cook County Democrats during the '83 elections...but in a contorted reverse where Keyes is the Epton. The mess after this election is gonna be a joy to watch being sorted out.

I don't think RoveCo. thought this one out totally. They knew the Illinois seat was gone when they saw the first polls on Fitzgerald's electability last year and then saw their manchild's numbers at 40% or less. Guess they figured Keyes couldn't do any more damage than the Illinois Repugnicans were causing...but he overestimated.

The backlash of Keyes will be felt for years. First, the Conservative vs. the "party regulars" as to whose job it is to support Keyes, then after the election, who didn't support him. LOL. Then why he lost...the ideology vs. the party hacks fighting then begins.

The question I have is how deep this destruction is going. Will it create scisms on the county and township levels that could gridlock this party? It's gonna take a lot to get the irate Repugnicans in my area back in the same tent with a Topinka or Corrine Wood or Hastert.

The rhetoric is so hollow, and I suspect as long as Keyes continues to open his piehole to grandstand on national food fights, the damage will get worse.

I haven't seen a Keyes bumper sticker or placard anywhere. But then there aren't any Bush/Cheney ones in my area, either.
