Any Illinois DUers familiar with Lake Forest College ?
Lake Forest calls itself 'Chicago's National Liberal Arts College'.
Have you ever been there? Attended? Grad? Taught? Know anyone who went?
Opinions, observations, comments please. THANKS!

1. driven by
oh wait. i met someone who taught drama there, but i am totally blanking. just remember that he was a flirt, but he was gay. long time ago. when people still flirted with me.
anyway, gorgeous campus, surrounded by very rich people in very huge houses. you can take a train back to the real world if you want, tho.
don't think their claim is particularly exclusive. but their reputaion is golden.
i'm sure some other folks will chime in soon.

2. Yes

I've known a few people who have attended LFC.

All have loved it and the parents loved it. They gave nice financial aid packages and I believe we have a DUer here whose child attended the school for some classes. IIRC, they also liked the school. I haven't heard anything bad about the school.

Cheers

3. My niece got her teaching degree from there.
The worst thing I've heard from her is that the dorms are just okay. It's a great LA school, has an excellent professor:pupil ratio, great financial aid packages. They don't believe parents should be required to pay for their kid's college, so student loans are part of their financial packages. The campus is very nice, and very close to Lake Michigan. As far as academics go, my niece was required to take a particular course to graduate, but it wasn't offered at convenient times at LFC, so she took the class at another college. In order to meet the LFC undergraduate requirement she had to take a graduate-level course at the reciprocal school.

Hope this helps. :hi:

4. I live within 1/2 mile of it...
& have met some of the professors. It's a sweet little college campus with an interesting mix of students & faculty, many who are quite liberal.

I've thought of going back to school there (as an old lady student) & have looked at their curriculum. Quite impressive, but rather expensive. I've also attended several lectures there from notables such as Ray McGovern & Scott Ritter.

Here's the link to the school: http://www.lakeforest.edu/
