Hastert's Chief Of Staff Jumps Ship

Hastert's chief of staff resigns
The Associated Press

BATAVIA, Ill. --U.S. Rep. Dennis Hastert's chief of staff is resigning to join the private sector.

Bloomington native Michael Stokke (STOH'-kee) will leave his post this month to form his own company.

Stokke was been with Hastert's office since 1998 and became chief of staff in January of this year. He says he looks back on Hastert's record with pride.

Hastert has named longtime staffer Anthony Reed to replace Stokke.

Hastert has represented the 14th congressional district since 1986. He says he'll retire after his current term is up next year.
