Anyone in Chicago want some cats?
So, I posted this in the lounge and someone suggested that I post it here.... duh! I just didn't think of it, because I don't live in the area anymore:

I can hook you up.

So, the sad part is that an uncle of mine died this week. He had three cats which now have nowhere to go. He also had a dog, which is sadly going to be put down (it's an old dog with cancer and has had many operations - it may be for the best). The cats on the other hand, so far as I know, are fine. That's about all I know about them right now. My mom asked me if I knew anyone who could take them (I used to live in Chicago and still have friends there), but can't think of anyone right off.

My uncle was a great guy. He loved children and animals. He was a retired teamster and leftwing to the core. I think he loved God, family, his pets, his union, and his country, and possibly in that order. These are good, solid, Democratic cats, no doubt.

So... if you may want them, or know someone who does, let me know. It may be a week or so before I have any info for sure, since someone in the family may take them (I'll try to convince my parents, but they've already got a dog who's a handful), but if there's someone in the Chicago area who could use some kitties, let me know. It may be ok to split them up, but I'm not sure - two came to him as a pair though, so maybe they should stay together.

1. DId you try PAWS (a cat shelter) or Treehouse?
There used to be a very kindhearted nun who lived in Edgewater who used to try to find homes for cats in sad situations such as you describe.

2. thanks for the tip
I didn't even know about that. I'd rather just try to find a good home for them myself, but if I don't have any takers in a few days, I'll look them up.

4. If I could, I would.
First, my condolences on your uncle. Second, I love kitties, but with two dogs already, I'm maxed out under the terms of my lease.

:hi:
