I've seen very, very little of it. The vast majority of Democrats down here in central Illinois say that will gladly vote for whoever our nominee is.

How is it where you live?

2. I'm on North side of Chicago
I concur, some Hillary supporters, signs and such but most of what I see is Obama. My brother though in a very liberal part of Houston has downright nasty encounters with some Hillary supporters.

3. Had a nasty run-in with an Obama supporter from Rockford,
at a meeting last week. He was outraged that I have an Edwards sticker on my car. Something about not being a good Illinoisan. As if I ever claimed to be such a thing.

4. No.
There are people who are sure fed up with Silverspoon and his gang of thieves, but if you talk to someone who is one way or the other on the Dem side, you will universally here that they're FOR one but will vote for WHOMEVER is he nominee.

5. People now hate Hillary.
People who didn't mind her before now really hate her. I do see that.

6. I have seen some anger from Obama supporters in my area.
They are angry that Clinton has not dropped out. They expect that Obama should be handed the nomination without a fight.

Let me emphasize that only a few Obama supporters here are behaving that way. Most Democrats here will vote for either candidate. And when I was at a Quad Cities event, I saw Clinton and Obama supporters sitting next to each other and sharing pleasantries over their meal.

I think it depends on where you go and who you speak with. I spend a lot of time around political junkies, so they are of course more passionate. I ran into some mean Obama supporters in Springfield, and some Chicago Obama supporters who were incredulous that there were any Clinton supporters left anywhere on the face of the earth.

7. I've talked to a good mix
of both Obama and Clinton supporters. With very few exceptions there is no animosity towards the other as is seen here on GD:P (ugh)

8. People IRL are much more sensible
That's why it's been a long time since I encouraged anyone to check out DU, or even admit I frequent it myself.

Where I work, Dems are pretty much for Obama. Where I live, I see signs for both Clinton and Obama. I haven't met anyone but the very young (early-mid 20s is very young to me) who are obstinate about their choices. Most Dems I've talked with will vote for the (D), no matter what. I too will gladly vote for either.

9. I can only think of two people I know that supported Clinton.
In fact, one of them was on the Primary ballot as a Clinton Delegate...

I think DU, on average, is WAY more extreme than the rest of the Dem party--especially as it manifests here in Illinois. I'm not knocking DU in any way but you have to realize this is a message board that is made up of self admitted political junkies. It should come as NO shock that we are all pretty passionate in our views. This Primary was very much one that helps define our party and there was a huge amount of discussion about change in our system. That discussion was painful at times, but in the long run it makes our party stronger as long as we all remember WHY we are having it. It isn't about bashing each other it is about defining our goals and our vision. Now we pull our socks up and work our ticket. THAT is how it works if we want to call ourselves a party member.

This too shall pass and the political veterans realize it.

10. I've heard nothing but 'Hosannas' today...
People are thrilled that it's finally over, first, and that our senator is the presumptive nominee. They've also been calling Sen. Clinton's suspension and unqualified endorsement of Sen. Obama 'classy', etc. .

I was never the rabid pro-Obama/anti-Clinton/vice-versa person many in GD-P seemed to be, since I like and admire both.

:)

11. I voted for Clinton, for a number of reasons...
but, I've been VERY unhappy that it took her so long to concede.

That said, I've also had no problem being in favor of Obama once it was clear he'd won, and I support our nominee and will vote for him in November.

However, I've got a friend in Missouri who has some sort of problem with Obama...not sure what (I've been afraid to ask - he's from West Virginia, and...I have fears that I wouldn't like the true answer if I got it). He's saying now that Obama needs to pick Clinton for VP - but I made it clear how I feel about Clinton supporters who say that - that they need to vote for Obama because McCain is against everything that Clinton stands for. We'll see if he'll come around by November.

12. I work in Chicago but now live in (conservative) Dupage County
For that reason I tend to avoid politics with my neighbors (I overheard one listening to Michael Savage in his car and see two "pregnant? need help?" bumper stickers in my parking lot), although I may be a precinct committeeman this fall so I suppose I should get used to it!
