Judy Biggert - Contact her re Tom DeLay - Time Critical
CONTACT THE CONGRESSIONAL ETHICS COMMITTEE (5 Dems, 5 Republicans) TO DEMAND THAT THEY VOTE FOR A FULL INVESTIGATION OF THE ETHICS COMPLAINT AGAINST TOM DELAY AT THIER SEPT. 20, 2004 MEETING.

The complaint covers three areas:

1) DeLay's soliciting a bribe from Westar Energy in return for an amendment to the energy bill that would have resulted in millions of dollars in savings for the company;

2) DeLay's use of his PAC, Texans for a Republican Majority to launder corporate money, converting such funds into hard dollars that were donated directly to candidates for the Texas State Legislature; and

3) DeLay's use of the Federal Aviation Administration to track down a plane carrying Texas legislators who had left the State to avoid voting on DeLay's partisan redistricting plan.

5. I'm in her district and will email the damn stooge
but if she got a million emails I doubt she'll do something that negatively affects DeLay.

4. Please Use Media Blaster
Here's a letter similar to the ones I've already sent to papers in other states. I got the addresses from the Media Blaster link on the "Campaign Underground" page of this website.

My Yahoo account won't let me send any more letters tonight. Thinks i'm a spammer. :eyes:

It would be more effective from folks in Illinois, anyway -- more likely to get published. Someone please cut, paste, edit, make this your own!

Thank you & Peace!

Dear Editors:

This week the U.S. House of Representatives Committee
on Standards and Official Conduct, also known as the
House Ethics Committee, must make a decision vital to
our democracy. Representative Judy Biggert of Illinois is one of the ten Committee Members. This group must decide whether to investigate the serious ethics complaint it received against Rep. Tom DeLay(Texas) this summer.

According to House rules, no other group or party has the power to investigate a U.S. Representative. The charges are serious. They involve outright fraud, money laundering, and the illegal use of Federal resources.

Unfortunately, four of the Representatives who are
members of the Ethics Committee, including Ms. Biggert, have taken money from Mr. DeLay or from his PAC in recent years.

What does it say for our government when a man charged
with engaging in "pay-to-play" politics can also pay
off the members of the jury that must decide whether
to investigate him?

If the charges are groundless, let an investigation
put them to rest. If, however, members of the
Committee who have been paid by Mr. DeLay lack the
integrity either to recuse themselves or appoint
special counsel to look into the charges, then
America's representative democracy suffers a terrible
blow. What confidence can we then have that our
representatives in Washington, such as Rep.
Biggert, will actually represent the people whose
votes sent them there, instead of representing those
who fill their pockets?
