Help Defeat Bush in Chicago - volunteer opportunity
I received the email below from the Democracy for America mailing list. Check it out if you live in Chicago-land and you would like to take a day and help canvas for John Kerry in Milwaukee. This event takes place tomorrow (Sat., Sept 18), so RSVP quickly.

Help Defeat Bush in Chicago

Democracy for America is developing a new generation of leaders and activists with the campaign skills and tools necessary to fight for democracy in every election cycle. But all of our long-term work will be monumentally harder if George W. Bush is reelected. That's why we're redoubling our efforts to elect John Kerry this November. New polls are showing John Kerry and George W. Bush deadlocked and just a few hundred votes could make the difference.

This Saturday, Democracy for Illinois (http://www.democracyforillinois.org/) is organizing a road trip to knock on doors in Milwaukee. Volunteers from Democracy for Illinois will join volunteers from the League of Conservation Voters Environmental Victory Project to talk to undecided voters:

Face to face contact is the best way to persuade voters and make sure that they turn out on election day. Please join us this weekend for this vital outreach effort. Here are the details:

Vans will leave from Chicago at 8:00am at the corner of State & Grand (Enterprise Rent-A-Car). The training session in Milwaukee will start at 10:00, followed by a few hours of canvassing, and finally some food before the group heads back home to Chicago.

For more information about rides, please email:
loop_meetup_host@muskoxen.net

In Milwaukee, the group will meet at 10:00 am
Bucketworks
1319 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr.

To RSVP online go to:

Thank you!

1. Haha, Kerry groups were leaving from about a block away an hour later
We'll be taking road trips to Wisconsin every Saturday through election day and we had two full buses last week. If interested, RSVP here

nikerrytravelers@yahoo.com

And meet at 57 W. Grand (Kerry HQ) at 9 a.m. every Saturday. I went last weekend and am going again. It was a blast, met a lot of great people, and most of all, it was effective. There are a lot of Dems out there who have never seen any sign of the Kerry campaign. We give them hope and motivate them to get out and vote. We even signed up more volunteers who didn't know who to contact.

Hope to see y'all on the bus. Or rather buses. Oh, and another bus leaves from Evanston, for those of you outside the city. At Dem HQ on Custer. Same time and dates.
