Chicago Clean Power Ordinance and a Progressive Web Chat
All in one lil' blog fer you.

http://ilprog.wordpress.com/2010/04/22/cleaning-up-chicago/

We just had to share. The Fisk and Crawford coal-fired power plants on the South and near South West side of Chicago are a health and environmental menace to their communities and ultimately, the rest of the city.

These two plants belch out about 2.8 million pounds of soot and 5 million metric tons of carbon dioxide each year – nearly 2 tons for each of Chicago’s 2.9 million residents.
The fight just got ratcheted up a notch by Ald. Joe Moore of the 49th Ward who is pushing for significant reductions in harmful emissions from these plants with his Chicago Clean Power Ordinance.

Becky Clayborn of the Sierra Club and the Clean Power Coalition talked to the local chapter of Progressive Democrats of America recently, and we thought this information was relevant to all Illinoisans.
Earth Day should be everyday. Might as well start at home.

At the same meeting, PDA Chicago reached through the internet and shook hands with a Progressive from the West Coast. Marcy Winograd (CA-36) running against Blue Dog Jane Harman in Cali.
