How close to the entrance of a polling place can someone stand and hand out candidate literature?

How close to the entrance of a polling place can someone stand and hand out candidate literature?
I saw some folks handing out fliers for Mark Kirk maybe 60 feet away this morning in Elk Grove Village.
Cop idling nearby, too, so maybe it's OK (or maybe it's OK till a republican complains).
