I just got email from the Libertarian Party of Illinois, and they have made it onto the ballot.
This is excellent news for Democrats because 80% of votes for LP candidates come from voters who would otherwise vote for a GOP candidate.
Also note that Dubya cannot make it onto the Illinois Ballot without a change in Illinois law as the nominating convention, cynically moved into September to coincide with 9/11, is about a week later than the deadline for ballot access in Illinois.
The LP have been kept from the ballot by the GOP on several occasions in recent Illinois history, and now that they have secured their own place, I expect that they will mount a challenge to any attempt to change the ballot access rules for Dubya. In other words - Pay Back Time.
If any of your are lawyers who would want to help (pro bono) the LP keep Dubya from polluting the Illinois ballot, let me know. I will put you in contact with the right people in the LP.
They have indicated in the past that they would accept help from Democrats on this matter.
