1. When I think of how hard Jan Schakowsky and the 9th CD Dems worked ...
When I think of how hard Jan Schakowsky and the (very liberal) 9th CD Dems worked to get thislittle corporatist elected, it makes me sick. This is NOT the way to win back the House as far as I'm concerned.

Thanks for the welcome! I'll be posting my views on the website fairly soon. I refuse to accept the labels of "life" and "choice" in this important discussion.

10. Wow, an Independent Candidate seeking to unseat a Democratic Incumbent
and posting on DU in direct and flagrant disregard for the rules he agreed to abide by when he registered!

How can we trust you on anything when you can't even be trusted to abide by rules you agreed to abiude by?

12. Never do this
Mr. Scheurer:

I have advised several candidates in some local elections, and having a candidate post on any message board is a very bad idea even though they are dieing to respond.

1) Its against the forum rules
2) We have no way of proving you are in fact the Bill Scheurer running for congress in the IL 8th
3) The daily Herold or someone else could be on and drag you into a debate you don't want to get into
4) Those same news sources can take something you say out of context
5) I am sure the fine people at DU have a good security system but God forbid somebody else gets a hold of your password and starts posting things like you invented the question mark.

This is just some advice please feel free to do with it what you may.

13. Welcome to DU, BobFly5
Glad to have you with us here at DU and welcome to the Illinois forum!

:hi:

I don't think you need to worry about Mr. Scheurer posting here again. I see he's been "tomb-stoned" which is DU's little way of showing that a poster is no longer able to post here.

DU's rules are pretty specific about not working on here for any non-Democratic candidate. You can check some of the threads here in the Illinois forum if you are curious about why Mr. Scheurer is no longer with us.

While I agree with you that candidates need to be very careful about posting on message boards in general, I would humbly disagree with you about candidates avoiding message boards completely.

I have seen first hand what a wonderful tool the internet can be for both fund raising and organizing. You might be surprised by how much money a candidate can raise with a paypal account on DU.

DUers are, for the most part, politically active people with a very serious passion for good Democratic candidates.

If you are seriously interested in Illinois politics you are in the right place.

15. Thanks for the welcome
I am involved with IL politics, currently a Cegalis volunteer and managing a local election. I may even take a shot at the 45th leg. dist. in the future.
