Progressive Pages- Need your feedback!
I just visited DancingBear's thread about wanting to come up with a directory of Repuke businesses to boycott and provide decent progressive alternatives for folks.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2587076&mesg_id=2587076&page=

I'd like to help any way I can to compile this book.

Here's what I need from ya'll:

Give me the names and approximate locations of any local IN businesses you saw the last year or so with Bush/Cheney signs outside, behind the counters or in windows. Any "I support President Bush and our troops?" or anything equivalent?

Alternately, provide the names and approximate addresses of progressive or Democratic owned or Democratic-supporting businesses you can recommend instead.

Let us know about good AND bad experiences you've had patronizing good or bad businesses all over the state!

Thanks everybody!
Let's hear em!

1. I posted this earlier - it's at a national level
I had looked into Publishers who supported Republicans (on opensecrets...)

Hallmark and Recycled Greetings are both big Republican supporters.

Blue Mountain Greetings and Andrews McMeel support Democrats.

2. Thanks bloom.
I knew about Hallmark, but it's good to be reminded. We can add Blue Mountain and McM to the good guys.

3. Probably doesn't mean anything...
But.. Brentwood Elementary School was a polling place, Nov. 2nd, in Plainfield (Hendricks County) and outside the door, they had Bush/Cheney signs but not a single Kerry/Edwards sign.

Other than that I really don't go out much.

8. These are great...
Can I ask a favor though?

For those of us from out of state who may not know your local candidates (and are entering the bulk of the info) can you provide little Ds and Rs next to your locals that aren't nationwide?

I'm not familiar with Souder or MacIntosh, so I have to do extra research just to figure out who they are.

Much appreciated!

7. All pharmaceutical and medical supply co's; a fundraising idea
Somebody beat me to Lilly, an obvious offender, and I'll check around to find some more companies in the medical/drug development sector to see what I can find out.

On a related subject, I have an idea about how to raise money for the Democratic party. Two words: BUMPER STICKERS. I think these could work nationally. Americans, after all, are the least anonymous drivers I've ever seen. ('Hey! That guy in the Dodge Stratus has a Bush/Cheney sticker! I've always wanted a Stratus, so he must really know his shit and have great taste to boot! I was seriously thinking about that Kerry guy, but now I don't know. Whaddaya think, honey?')

Here are the two brainstorms:

1) A la New Hampshire:

'Better Dead Than Red'

and / or

2) 'America: Home of the World's Greatest Hick Magnet' (OR 'Hick Magnate'--either applies)

I believe it would turn more heads than 'We Are Being Lied To.'

So, whaddaya think, honey?

9. Logansport's The Village Peddler kept a Scott for Senator
up until a week or so ago. Definitely Republican if they had that one up that long. It's a small nicnac/giftshop store and the spouse runs a chiropractic business in the back but I just wanted to let you know! I noticed it!
