No Tax Caps organizing meeting in Indianapolis
Date: Tuesday, July 6, 2010
Time: 6:00pm - 9:00pm
Location: TBD

This is a group of citizens educating the public to vote no on the property tax cap referendcum that will be on the ballot in November 2010.

The tax caps are already law. Putting them in the consitution does not create more tax breask.

The tax caps were just fully implemented in 2010. We do not know all the effects they will have on the community.

The tax caps negatively affect renters and low income renters.

The tax caps tax different groups at different rates, which is currently unconstitutional according to the Indiana constitution, so that is why they want it changed. It take at least three years to undo this change to the constitution if needed.

State Legislators can change the way property is assessed and if your home's value goes up, your taxes will go up, even if it is at the maximum cap.

There are other ways to protect low income families, senior citizens and other concerned about losing their homes.
