1. The Republicans are about to blow it
They've overreached badly in this legislative session and they will pay for it at the polls. At to that the idiocy of the Tea Party challenge to Lugar and I actually think it's the Indiana Republicans who have peaked and are already on the decline...

2. Only if the Democrats don't blow it and have a good election plan and candidates.

3. Out here in California, good candidates on the Democratic ticket
and a very bad experience with a big-talk-no-do Governor Schwarzenegger made the difference.

We have a strong Democratic presence in the legislature. So it's the candidates and campaigns in legislative races that make all the difference. And those are won when the candidates and supporters start walking door-to-door meeting people very early in the campaign. It is often about personality and being able to listen well and respond respectfully to individual voters and getting to know and care about a lot of people.

If you are really good with people and really care about people and are willing to do a good job reading bills and studying the issues, you should consider running. You will need to spend a couple of years of weekends knocking on people's doors.

4. Stuck with this forever?
Rebecca Kubacki who beat longtime Republican state Representative Bill Ruppel in the primary last election has already done much to lose the confidence of those who voted for her by supporting Mitch’s plan to gut public education funding in favor of vouchers and charter schools might be vulnerable in the Republican primary, but she has buckets full of money so it would not be cheap.

Kubacki and Tony Bennett got something of a surprise when they did a public hearing on education in Wabash a couple of weeks ago, seems screwing over the teachers is not all that popular.

In a recent quote Kubacki said being a “stay at home Mom” had taught her how to work on a budget. Kubacki failed to mention that her husband, the top dog at Lake City Bank, makes $700,000.00 a year according to Forbes.

The Democrats could put Jesus Christ on their ballot against her and not top 40% in this district.
