Republican Mayor Bennett wins re-election

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Republican Mayor Duke Bennett won his re-election campaign by defeating Democrat Fred Nation.

Mayor Bennett is the first Republican mayor to win re-election in over 80 years.

Nation conceded the the race around 7 p.m.

Mayor Bennett received 69 percent of the vote to Nation's 31 percent.

A little more than 10,000 people voted in the Terre Haute mayoral race.
