Grain Processing Corp - process corn mostly. New contract coming up and from what I understand the company put some union busting language in it. Before any talks even started the company locked out the employees. Must have been long planned as they had goons in there within minutes of the lockout. Management working 7X12. According tothe folks I talked too production looks to be really light and they have some HUGE contracts to meet. Also, apparently the company didn't follow proper lockout protocol and therefore must pay unemployment comp for all their employees.
Spent some time with them yesterday to show support. Good people.
They are hiring scabs. I saw a want ad in the Sunday Times. I hope they get nothing. I back my Union brothers and sisters in this lockout. They want to work and the company won't let them. Please make sure people know that because a lot of the public thinks that the Union members are on strike, trying to place the onus on the workers.
