10,000 people from the Gulf coming into Topeka
tonight. I just got the call so since I let my license lapse I have to go take a quickie course on First Aid :eyes: but at least there is something I am good at. I heard that KC was getting some soon too so everyone call the Red Cross and lets get to it.

2. No offense taken
he is not the community he is just unfortunately housed here.

I am just waiting and waiting for news. I should know in a hour what the deal is and then I can finally do something besides send money.

I am aching to help and am so happy they will be coming here so they are not crammed somewhere where there are already so many others.

Phelps? He and his will be there I am certain but it is a good chance to let others know we are not all like that and that he is really just an old blowhard.

3. UPDATE
Good grief when will I ever learn that my friends can't be trusted. We here in Kansas are apparently a contingency plan. Nothing is certain but we have been put on notice. My friend who called took first aid classes today and came back with stories that they were coming in tonight so I got all excited with the opportunity to be of some help. Sorry everyone. I will update again once I find out something.

7. It's a waiting game
you have to remember that right now they (mostly other Americans, certainly not FEMA/DHS) are helping those that ended up at the Super Dome and the Convention Center. Eventually, those that managed to get out on their own but won't be able to get back to their homes will need places to go.

The house of cards has only started to fall.

8. Still waiting
I am so sorry to have gotten everyone so excited and ready. It seems our local RC and FEMA are as bad as national. I have been to the area twice after being told that they were arriving and nobody is there, nothing is set up. I read in the paper yesterday that they had pared the numbers down and then had a report from a friend whose girlfriend is the head of FEMA that no, the numbers were going to be high. The paper says another thing today but as far as I know the only people here are the ones that made it on their own.

I am trying to get info but.....well.....I apparently know as much as anyone. I have to be gone most of today, was gone most of yesterday but today I will not have internet access. If I can get home I will update again if I hear anything.
