I hate to break it to you...
but Fox4 is reporting that Phill Kline was just appointed DA. I can't say I'm surprised but geez. I think my blood pressure just shot up. The man drives me insane.

Sorry JoCo. If y'all are lucky, his license has lapsed and he won't be able to take the job.

9. If he is not eligible
will he be removed? At our county Dem meeting, they told us he is ineligible due to his lack of trial experience. They said there is a requirement for a minimum amount of trial experience and Phill doesn't have it.

So if that is true, what happens now? Will he be removed? Impeached?

11. To my knowledge that isn't one of the qualifications
I think he has to have a valid license, practiced for a term of years (I think it is a minimum of five years) and live (or be registered) in the county where he is appointed.

I don't believe he has much litigation experience but I do believe he has practiced law for the minimum amount of time.

In other words, you guys are screwed for the next two years.

Johnson County GOP Picks Kline As New District Attorney

Dec 11, 2006 09:21 PM

By JOHN HANNA
AP Political Writer

LENEXA, Kan. (AP) -- Republican activists picked Attorney General Phill Kline as Johnson County's new district attorney Monday night to replace the Democrat who ousted him from statewide office last month.

The tally among Republican precinct committee members who gathered at a Lenexa church was 316 for Kline to 291 for Steve Howe, who is an assistant district attorney in the state's most populous county.

In the attorney general's race last month, Kline received just 35 percent of the vote in Johnson County against five-term district attorney Paul Morrison, a former Republican who became a Democrat to challenge Kline for the statewide office.

3. How freakin' DARE they???
This man was bounced out of office overwhelmingly, but despite the voter's intent they handed this unqualified nut a plum job?

Talk about a kick in the teeth to JoCo voters! Disgusting! I'm furious! Is there any mechanism in our laws for a recall?

This is truly a shame. He lost but then he was appointed. Hmmmm. Another case of not caring about what the people, their bosses want. Disgusting.

Jesus Christ on a trailer hitch!

On the plus side, the Repubs just bought themselves a buttload of trouble. He will be a disaster.

But still, they're appointing a partisan fool to a very important position. They are screwing over the voters. It's a move worthy of *. :nuke: :banghead:

6. Don't you think in the long run, this will be good for the dems in Johnson
County. He lost there about 65% to 20 some %. You have an intelligent population that is moderate and I think if he gets out of control, there could be a movement to oust him. Also, if he is there in 2 years, the dems will crush him. Unfortunately, that is 2 years of hearing him.

8. Oh my god, I am just sick
And all of you saying 'this is good news, the GOP just shot themselves in the foot' - no, that is NOT what this is about. This is about the ruination of one of the most livable counties in the entire country.

One of the nicest things about living here is the low crime rate. But no trial experience double L Phill just took care of that. The only people who should truly be happy about this insane decision are criminals and their attorneys.

If anyone cares to let the local GOP nutbags have it, here is their leader's email: scott@scottschwab.com

This is just making me ill. The value of my home just shot down. I thought we were making headway when we got rid of Connie Morris but now we just took 3 giant steps backwards.

12. only if Klein is the prosecutor
Which won't happen. He'll run the office more as a managing attorney than as a prosecutor. He's got enough sense not to try to argue any cases in front of a judge or against real opposing counsel.

I wonder how long before he starts going through files trying to find more abortion cases? I also wonder if he's going to continue his jihad against the clinic(s) in JoCo?

They may also repel the crickets. I'd like to experiment with that.
Without them, you'd have a more natural, gangrenish tinge. The fingernails will look really cool at night.

32. Try owning a shih tzu
the one we've got snores loud enough to shake the house. My brother and his girlfriend stay with us sometimes. For the first couple of years she'd come downstairs in the morning, look at me like I was the most pathetic thing she'd ever seen and ask me "did you sleep okay?" I figured I looked like shit or something in the morning. One day she came down and asked her usual question. As I was answering her her eyes got real big. I looked behind me and there was the Admiral. She looked shocked. Then she asked me "who's snoring?" I told her it was the dog. Apparently, she had been feeling sorry for me because she was convinced I should have trouble sleeping through all that snoring. She thought it was the Admiral and was geniunely surprised it was the ten pound dog.

The snoring was really loud last week. The poor dog had a cold. He sneezed a lot and his snoring got LOUD! I could hear him sawing logs when I was out in the backyard.

35. I don't need one.
You've met Gup, evlspwn's pug. She's geting bigger. Since evlspwn is working and going to school, Gup has decided I'm her daddy. She has to be right next to me at all times and likes to sleep on her back, and man, can she snore. She woke my brother up, and he sounds like a cheap Suzuki motorcycle when he snores.
On the other hand, I don't need an alarm clock any more. She jumps up and down on my face bright and early every morning.

She plays with her, and I make sure to give my old girl her attention. Despite her exploded ass.
She's nearly deaf and her eyes are getting milky. Gup gets on the bed, but Bear seems to understand it. She does sigh a lot, though.

40. Same here with my lhasa, except for the playing part
She's resigned to life with an overly exuberant Shepherd and so she sighs a lot more these days. She also refuses to sleep with us most nights. She climbed into bed and made herself comfortable on one of the pillows a few days ago but most of the time she acts like we don't exist. I think she was hoping the Shepherd would disappear by now. To that end, she still won't play with the Shepherd. She fucks with the Shepherd a lot to make up for it. She goes in and eats the Shepherd's food. She's gotten sick more than once doing that.

Poor Bear. At least she's understanding and hasn't tried to kill Gup (like the lhasa has tried to kill the Shepherd).
