What's up with McConnell's currently running campaign ad?

I'm from Southeastern Indiana so I don't normally check KY's forum. However, I can't figure out his motives in highlighting the fact that he has had polio and recovered from it. It seems like a bid for sympathy and nothing else. If he was using it as a springboard to promise universal healthcare that would be one thing but he doesn't seem to connect it to any altruistic or empathetic motives. By the way, please defeat the SOB

1. Trying to somehow humanize himself

Upon first viewing of the ad, I kept expecting him to somehow tie in his undying love for Iraq. When it became clear he just wanted everyone to know he had polio and later became a little league player and "leader" in the Senate, I laughed.

It's a shame he's voted against SCHIP and universal healthcare. I wonder about the kids that do not get to receive treatment for their chronic illnesses.

Here's hoping Lunsford forces him to spend all his money in Kentucky and keep it away from helping other Republicans in November.
